The Healing Gauge, prominently displayed on your user interface, provides valuable information regarding your White Mage's current state and available abilities. Among its key components are the Lilies and the Blood Lily, each serving a unique purpose in your healing arsenal.

Lilies are small, delicate flowers that represent the White Mage's connection to the divine. They are acquired through specific abilities and actions performed during combat. As you accumulate Lilies, they are visually displayed on the Healing Gauge, serving as a tangible representation of your growing reservoir of healing power.

Lilies play a crucial role in the White Mage's spellcasting abilities. When you have accumulated Lilies, you gain access to two potent spells: Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture. These spells harness the sacred energies stored within the Lilies to deliver immediate and impactful healing to your allies. By carefully managing your Lilies and strategically deploying these abilities, you can swiftly mend wounds and ensure the survival of your party members in the heat of battle.

Additionally, the Healing Gauge features another notable element—the Blood Lily. The Blood Lily represents a pinnacle of power within the White Mage's repertoire. As you continue to heal and perform your duties as a guardian of life, the Blood Lily gradually grows, indicating progress towards unlocking the devastating spell known as Afflatus Misery.

Afflatus Misery is a spell of immense potency, capable of dealing substantial damage to enemies while simultaneously inflicting a measure of healing to your party members. Nurturing the Divine Blooms: Unveiling the Progression of Lilies in the White Mage Gauge

As a devoted White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, you possess a remarkable tool known as the Healing Gauge, which acts as a window into the mystical energies that flow through you. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricate mechanics of the White Mage Gauge, exploring the progression and acquisition of Lilies, their significance, and how to optimize their usage in your healing endeavors.

The acquisition of Lilies within the White Mage Gauge is directly tied to your participation in combat. When engaged in battle, every 20 seconds spent in active combat will cause a Lily to bloom within the Healing Gauge. This enchanting process symbolizes the growth of your connection to the divine forces that fuel your healing abilities.

To visualize your progress towards acquiring a Lily, the Healing Gauge features a captivating display. A delicate blue line gracefully traces the path of the white vine that serves as the foundation of the gauge. This blue line represents your advancement towards the next Lily. As you engage in combat, the blue line gradually extends from the base of the gauge, steadily climbing towards its pinnacle.

Once you have accumulated enough time in combat and the blue line reaches the top of the gauge, a remarkable transformation occurs. A beautiful blue flower blooms along the white vine, symbolizing the readiness of one usage of either Afflatus Solace or Afflatus Rapture.

Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture are powerful healing spells that draw upon the divine energies stored within the Lilies. These spells provide immediate and impactful healing to your allies, mending their wounds and fortifying their spirits. The availability of Lilies enables you to employ these potent abilities, ensuring the swift recovery and preservation of your party members.

Within the Healing Gauge, you can accumulate up to three Lilies at a time. As you acquire Lilies beyond this threshold, the gauge ceases progression towards blooming a new Lily. It is essential to be mindful of this limitation to optimize your healing potential. Utilizing your accumulated Lilies through Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture promptly ensures efficient healing output while allowing room for new Lilies to bloom and replenish your resources.

Understanding the progression and acquisition of Lilies in the White Mage Gauge is vital for optimizing your healing prowess. By monitoring the blue line's advancement and recognizing when Lilies are ready for use, you can strategically employ your healing spells to keep your allies healthy and resilient. Efficiently managing your Lilies and striking a balance between their usage and replenishment is key to becoming an exceptional White Mage.

Embrace the delicate dance between combat and rejuvenation, witness the blooming of Lilies within the Healing Gauge, and harness the divine energies of healing. Equipping for Success: A Guide to Gearing Up as a White Mage While Leveling

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, the path of healing demands not only mastery of restorative arts but also an understanding of the importance of proper gear. Gearing up effectively while leveling is essential, ensuring that you are adequately equipped to fulfill your role as a healer. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of gearing up as a White Mage, highlighting key considerations and providing valuable tips to optimize your gear selection.

Throughout your leveling journey, it is crucial to prioritize staying up-to-date with your gear. While this holds true for all jobs, it becomes especially vital for tanks and healers, who bear the responsibility of sustaining their party's survivability. As a White Mage, your focus should be on obtaining the highest item level healer gear available, rather than getting caught up in the specifics of substats at this stage.

Identifying suitable gear for a White Mage is relatively straightforward. Healer gear can be recognized by the presence of the Mind stat, which directly enhances your healing potency. Many pieces of healer gear will also bear the suffix "of Healing," further confirming their suitability for your role. Keep an eye out for these telltale signs when browsing through gear options.

To streamline the gear selection process, utilize the "Equip Recommended Gear" button conveniently located in the Character menu. This feature automatically identifies and equips your highest item level gear, allowing you to swiftly optimize your performance without the need for manual selection. By relying on this feature, you can focus on the intricacies of healing without the burden of meticulously scouring your inventory for upgrades.

As you approach the level cap for each previous expansion (50, 60, 70, 80), a world of substantial upgrades awaits you. These upgrades can be obtained through the use of Allagan Tomestones of Poetics, a currency accessible from Rowena's Representative in major cities, typically situated near the city's main Aetheryte. By exchanging your hard-earned Tomestones, you can acquire gear of superior quality, ensuring that your healing potential reaches new heights.

However, do not overlook the importance of balance and synergy in your gear choices. While item level serves as a primary indicator of gear quality, it is essential to consider the broader context of your role as a healer. Take into account the unique requirements of encounters, party composition, and the overall needs of your team. By striking a harmonious balance between item level, substats, and situational awareness, you can maximize your contribution as a White Mage and support your party with unparalleled efficiency.

As you progress through your leveling journey, remember that gear is not merely a means to an end but an opportunity for growth and development. Embrace the ongoing quest for optimal gear, seek out upgrades at each milestone, and adapt your selections to suit the evolving challenges that lie before you. By investing in your gear, you invest in your role as a White Mage, becoming an unwavering force of healing and restoration.

Equip yourself with the knowledge and the gear befitting a true White Mage. Navigate the intricacies of item level, Mind stat, and healer gear, ensuring that you are always prepared to deliver solace and support to those in need. With each upgrade, you draw closer to the pinnacle of healing prowess, embodying the essence of a masterful White Mage.

Embrace the journey of discovery and growth, seize the opportunities to obtain upgrades through Allagan Tomestones of Poetics, and become a paragon of healing excellence. As a White Mage, your gear is not merely an accessory—it is a conduit through which you channel the divine energies of restoration, bringing hope and vitality to the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

Harnessing the Essence of Healing: Understanding the Resources of the White Mage

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, your mastery of the healing arts relies on understanding and effectively utilizing the unique resources at your disposal. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of the White Mage's resources, shedding light on the Lilies and the coveted Blood Lily. Through this deeper understanding, you will unlock the full potential of your healing abilities and become an unparalleled force of restoration.

Lilies serve as a vital resource for a White Mage, representing the connection to the divine energies that flow through you. These ethereal blossoms recharge at a steady rate of one Lily per 20 seconds, replenishing your reserves of healing power. The Lilies are visually depicted as blue icons on the right side of your job gauge, shimmering with a serene brilliance.

Within the job gauge, a dynamic blue line gracefully traces the path of the Lily vine. This blue line indicates the current progress towards the recharge of Lilies. As the line gradually extends from the base of the gauge towards its apex, you can gauge the remaining time until the next Lily blooms. By monitoring this visual representation, you can strategically plan the timing of your healing spells and optimize your efficiency.

Each Lily charge holds immense potential, allowing for the utilization of two powerful healing spells: Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture. These spells tap into the stored energies within the Lilies, bestowing immediate and impactful healing upon your allies. As you consume Lilies through the casting of these spells, the Lilies diminish, illustrating their expenditure.

Additionally, the White Mage possesses a coveted resource known as the Blood Lily. Through the consumption of a blue Lily, the Blood Lily charges and begins its transformation. Once three Lilies have been consumed, the Blood Lily reaches its apex, radiating with a vibrant crimson hue. This signifies that the Blood Lily is now active and ready to be utilized in the casting of Afflatus Misery, a spell of unparalleled potency.

Afflatus Misery embodies the pinnacle of the White Mage's healing abilities. By harnessing the full essence of the Blood Lily, you can unleash this devastating spell, striking a balance between destructive power and essential healing. The casting of Afflatus Misery consumes the Blood Lily, necessitating careful consideration of its deployment and the optimal timing to maximize its impact.

Understanding and managing these resources is crucial for the efficient utilization of your healing abilities as a White Mage. By monitoring the recharge of Lilies, strategically consuming them through Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture, and tactfully unleashing the power of the Blood Lily through Afflatus Misery, you become a formidable healer, capable of turning the tide of battle and bringing salvation to your comrades.

Embrace the enchanting resources bestowed upon you as a White Mage, nurture the Lilies and witness their bloom, and master the art of channeling the divine energies within the Blood Lily. With each healing touch and strategic decision, you shall weave miracles of restoration, becoming a beacon of hope and vitality within the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

Unleashing the Mystic Arsenal: Overview of Offensive Actions for Leveling White Mage

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, your healing prowess is matched only by your ability to wield offensive spells, smiting foes and supporting your party with your mystical arsenal. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the various offensive actions at your disposal while leveling, empowering you to maximize your damage output and contribute to the success of your adventures.

4.1 Offensive Actions

Glare III: Glare III serves as your primary single-target damage spell. When there are no higher priority actions to cast, unleash the power of Glare III upon your enemies. This spell inflicts substantial damage and allows you to contribute to the destruction of your adversaries.

Dia: Dia is a Damage over Time (DoT) spell that weaves threads of affliction upon your foes. Exercise caution not to overwrite existing DoTs prematurely, as this hinders your overall damage output. Avoid applying Dia to enemies that are on the brink of defeat. Reserve its use for sustained encounters, such as boss fights, while exhibiting prudence and ensuring optimal damage application.

Holy III: Holy III, a potent area-of-effect (AoE) damage spell, serves as a formidable tool in decimating multiple adversaries simultaneously. Additionally, this spell possesses the ability to stun enemies, providing utility in crowd control situations. Whenever you find yourself facing three or more targets, prioritize the use of Holy III over Glare III. It is important to note that Holy III has a cast time of 2.5 seconds, which restricts weaving other actions, necessitating focused and strategic spellcasting.

Presence of Mind: As a White Mage, you possess an invaluable off-global cooldown (oGCD) ability known as Presence of Mind. Activating this ability enhances your casting speed, reduces the global cooldown recast time, and minimizes auto-attack delay by 20% for a duration of 15 seconds. Utilize Presence of Mind strategically, aligning its activation with periods of sustained casting. This ability optimizes your damage output and ensures efficient spellcasting during critical moments.

Assize: Assize represents a versatile ability that inflicts AoE damage to enemies while simultaneously providing healing to your party members. Deploy this powerful spell at the onset of battles and subsequently on cooldown to unleash its devastating potential. However, exercise discretion and hold off on casting Assize if you anticipate additional targets to be within its range. By doing so, you can maximize its impact and ensure maximum damage and healing efficiency.

Mastering the intricacies of these offensive actions will transform you into a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. By seamlessly interweaving your healing duties with timely and devastating attacks, you become a pillar of support and destruction, enhancing the overall efficiency of your party's endeavors.

Embrace the power of offensive actions as a White Mage, casting Glare III, skillfully applying Dia, unleashing the might of Holy III, harnessing the swiftness of Presence of Mind, and wielding the devastating force of Assize. With each incantation and calculated decision, you will pave the way to victory, triumphing over the forces of darkness and ensuring the safety and success of your comrades.

Unleash your mystic prowess, wield your offensive spells with precision, and embark on a journey where your healing and damaging abilities harmoniously intertwine. As a White Mage, you stand as a beacon of restoration and destruction, bringing balance to the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

  3. Keep Dia Icon Dia up.
  4. Use Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery in buffs or for movement when available.
  5. Use Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace or Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture to avoid overcapping lilies.
  6. Use Glare III Icon Glare III as your filler.
  7. Use Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace or Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture when you can not cast your standard filler due to movement.

AoE Damage Priority.

  1. Use Presence of Mind Icon Presence of Mind on cooldown as long as you can cast for the entire duration.
  2. Use Assize Icon Assize on cooldown for damage.

  4. Use Holy III Icon Holy III if it will hit 3+ targets.

Healing and Defensive Actions

oGCD Healing Abilities

White Mage has relatively fewer oGCD abilities compared to other healing jobs, but oGCD abilities still take priority over GCD spells whenever they can be freely weaved. Weaving abilities in AoE is a bit trickier for White Mage since Holy III Icon Holy III has a full 2.5s cast that will not allow for free weaving.

  • Benediction Icon Benediction is an instant heal for 100% of the max HP of the target. This can be used to full heal any tank at low health, and is often saved for Living Dead Icon Living Dead when you are healing a Dark Knight, although Living Dead is rarely used in dungeon pulls.
  • Asylum Icon Asylum is a ground-targeted AoE regen that will heal anyone its radius every 3s for a small amount for 24s total. Asylum is typically the first healing ability you will respond to healing with since it has a 90s cooldown and takes a while to get the full healing effect.
  • Assize Icon Assize is technically an AoE healing ability but is typically used on cooldown for damage and MP restoration instead.
  • Tetragrammaton Icon Tetragrammaton is a large single-target heal on a 60s cooldown. This ability is typically used to keep tanks healthy and should not be saved for emergencies.
  • Divine Benison Icon Divine Benison is a single-target shield on a short 30s cooldown. This ability is typically used on cooldown to keep tanks healthy and should not be saved for emergencies. This spell comes on a charge system, capable of holding two charges, which allows more flexibility in its use.
  • Plenary Indulgence Icon Plenary Indulgence applies a 10s buff to your party that triggers a small extra heal to anyone hit by Medica Icon Medica, Medica II Icon Medica II, Cure III Icon Cure III, or Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture. This ability is typically used when you need some extra healing from your next GCD heal.
  • Temperance Icon Temperance has two main effects: a long 22s 10% party damage mitigation, and a personal 20% healing magic buff. Note that the healing buff only affects GCD healing spells. Temperance is best used when your party is going to take significant damage and you may need to GCD heal, although is often used for the mitigation alone.
  • Aquaveil Icon Aquaveil applies a short single-target 15% damage mitigation to your target. Aquaveil is typically used for tank maintenance and is often saved for tank busters, although can also be used to mitigate auto-attack strings especially in large dungeon mob pulls, or to save a low-HP party member from a raidwide.

Healing Spells

White Mage is more dependent on GCD heals than other healing jobs; it has relatively fewer oGCD heals, its gauge is tied entirely to GCD spells, and it has multiple effects that only apply to GCD heals. That said, GCD heals still cost offensive potency so oGCD healing abilities are still priority when available

Lily heals have higher priority than other healing spells after level 74 as they have no MP cost and refund a lot of damage through Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery. Lily heals can also be used in downtime and between dungeon pulls to give extra uses of Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery at no potency deficit. Lily heals cost one Lily each.

  • Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace is a single-target direct healing spell with equivalent healing to Cure II Icon Cure II.
  • Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture is an aoe direct healing spell that should be your priority for any aoe healing that cannot be covered by oGCDs.
  • Cure Icon Cure is a basic single-target GCD heal. This spell is rarely used once you get Cure II Icon Cure II as it provides a smaller heal at the same GCD cost, but it is a bit cheaper and faster so can be used in dire emergencies.
  • Medica Icon Medica is your basic AoE heal, it is generally replaced by Medica II Icon Medica II due to its higher total potency, although less up-front healing.
  • Cure II Icon Cure II is your basic single-target GCD heal.
  • Regen Icon Regen applies a strong regen to your target, and is your go-to spell for tank upkeep when needed.
  • Cure III Icon Cure III is a strong direct AoE heal, although has a small radius and higher MP cost. Cure III is used to heal the party when you are stacked and require immediate substantial healing.
  • Medica II Icon Medica II has a small up-front heal and applies a regen to everyone in range. It is your go-to AoE healing spell when you have no Lilies for Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or are saving them for movement and need healing.

Other Spells and Abilities

  • Esuna Icon Esuna removes a single debuff from yourself or an ally. Only debuffs with a blue bar on top of their icon can be removed via Esuna.
  • Raise Icon Raise is your raise spell. Best used with Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast to eliminate the long cast time and Thin Air Icon Thin Air to eliminate the MP cost.
  • Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast removes the cast time from the next spell.
  • Lucid Dreaming Icon Lucid Dreaming restores 3850 mana over 21 seconds. While you do not want to use it on full MP, you also do not want to wait too long to use it. Try to use it when you are missing about 2000 MP.
  • Surecast Icon Surecast makes you immune to most knockback effects. It also prevents heavy damage from interrupting casts.
  • Rescue Icon Rescue pulls a party member to your location. It is useful when someone is unaware of a mechanic, but try to not use it unnecessarily.
  • Thin Air Icon Thin Air reduces the MP cost of the next spell to 0. Ideally, this ability is used for high-MP cost spells such as Raise Icon Raise or Medica II Icon Medica II, but can also be used on filler spells if GCD heals or Raises are not needed.

Dungeon Gameplay

In a dungeon, the main challenge is keeping a tank alive during big pulls. At higher levels, this can feel easy due to your large amount of healing tools, but it can be a struggle at lower levels when you only have a fraction of your kit.

Dungeon Trash Pulls

  • Use Divine Benison Icon Divine Benison and Regen Icon Regen on the tank while they are pulling to keep them healthy while they gather mobs.
  • Use Dia Icon Dia on mob packs as the tank gathers them.
  • Use Assize Icon Assize if available on mobs once they have been gathered.
  • Use Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery if available on mobs once they have been gathered.
  • Use Holy III Icon Holy III as your filler on mobs once they are gathered.

The Art of Healing in Trash Pulls: Strategies for Efficient White Mage Gameplay

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, your role as a healer extends beyond the realm of boss encounters. Trash pulls, where multiple enemies assail your party, present unique challenges that demand strategic healing tactics. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of healing in trash pulls, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to ensure the well-being and survival of your comrades.

  1. Prioritize oGCD Options: When confronted with the intense and rapid damage output in trash pulls, it is crucial to optimize your healing efficiency. Begin by utilizing off-global cooldown (oGCD) options before resorting to global cooldown (GCD) healing spells. These powerful abilities, such as Tetragrammaton and Benediction, provide immediate healing without interrupting your casting flow. By judiciously employing these oGCD options, you can swiftly attend to critical health concerns while maximizing your overall healing output.

  2. Harness the Power of Lilies: Lilies, the precious resource unique to White Mages, can be invaluable in trash pulls. Whenever possible, prioritize the use of Lily heals before resorting to GCD heals. Afflatus Solace and Afflatus Rapture draw upon the stored energies of the Lilies, providing swift and potent healing to your allies. By strategically utilizing these abilities, you can maintain the health and vitality of your party members, ensuring their endurance amidst the chaos of multiple adversaries.

  3. Employ Asylum for Single-Target Healing: While Asylum is renowned for its effectiveness in AoE healing, it can also serve as a potent tool for single-target healing during trash pulls. Should the need arise to sustain your tank's health amidst a flurry of enemy attacks, deploy Asylum to provide a protective sanctuary. This ability offers a regenerative effect that mitigates damage over time, granting valuable moments for you to attend to other party members' needs.

  4. Cooldown Management: Managing your cooldowns effectively is essential to maintain a consistent and sustainable healing output. When initiating a pull, consider utilizing a 60-second cooldown to provide an initial burst of healing. This decision ensures that the cooldown will likely be available again during the subsequent pull, depending on the pace of the run. However, exercise caution with longer cooldowns, such as those with a 90 or 120-second timer. These abilities may not become available until after the next boss encounter, making them more suitable for moments when the demand for healing is particularly high.

Additionally, be mindful of cooldown usage towards the end of boss fights. Trash pulls often necessitate significantly more healing, requiring a higher frequency of potent abilities. By reserving long cooldowns for these intensive moments, you can ensure that your healing potential remains optimized throughout the encounter.

By adopting these strategies for healing in trash pulls, you will become an indomitable force of restoration amidst the chaos of battle. Seize the opportunity to exhaust your oGCD options before resorting to GCD heals, utilize the power of Lilies, and make strategic use of Asylum for single-target healing. Through careful cooldown management, you will strike the delicate balance between sustaining your party's health and preserving your resources for optimal efficiency.

Embrace the challenges of healing in trash pulls as a White Mage, channel the divine energies of restoration, and become the unwavering beacon of hope amidst the tumultuous battles that lie ahead. Your mastery of healing arts shall lead your comrades to triumph, ensuring their survival and success in the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.'

Dominating the Battlefield: Mastering Boss Fights, Trials, and Raids as a White Mage

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, your skills as a healer are put to the ultimate test in the face of formidable bosses, thrilling trials, and epic raids. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of healing during these high-stakes encounters, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to excel as a White Mage in the most challenging battles. Prepare to unleash your restorative powers and conquer the realm's most fearsome adversaries.

  1. Prioritize Single-Target Damage: When engaging in boss fights, trials, and raids, adhering to the single-target damage priority outlined in earlier sections remains crucial. By following this priority system, you can maintain a steady and impactful contribution to the battle, continuously whittling down the enemy's health while keeping your party members secure. Remember to strike a balance between damage-dealing and healing, optimizing your abilities to ensure victory.

  2. Focus on Mechanics: Boss fights, trials, and raids introduce intricate mechanics that require keen observation and rapid response. While healing remains a priority, it is essential to pay close attention to these mechanics and execute the necessary actions with precision. Failure to do so can result in dire consequences for your party, making it imperative to maintain situational awareness at all times. By effectively navigating the mechanics, you contribute not only to healing but also to the overall success of the encounter.

  3. Utilize oGCDs for Healing: In contrast to dungeon pulls, boss fights, trials, and raids often allow for a greater reliance on off-global cooldown (oGCD) healing abilities. These potent spells, such as Tetragrammaton, Benediction, and Asylum, enable you to provide swift and efficient healing without interrupting your damage-dealing rotation. By judiciously incorporating these oGCDs into your healing strategy, you can maintain your party's health while maximizing your damage output.

  4. Pay Attention to Tanks: While tanks in boss fights, trials, and raids may require less focused healing compared to dungeon pulls, they still require consistent upkeep. Tanks often serve as the frontline defenders, absorbing heavy damage from adversaries. Keep a watchful eye on their health and ensure that you are prepared to provide healing support when necessary. Balancing the healing demands of the entire party, including tanks, is crucial for a successful encounter.

  5. Embrace AoE Party Healing: Unlike dungeon pulls where focused healing is prominent, boss fights, trials, and raids typically emphasize AoE (area-of-effect) party healing. While tanks require attention, most of your healing efforts will be directed toward the well-being of the entire party. Employ powerful AoE healing spells, such as Medica II and Divine Benison, to mitigate damage and sustain the collective health of your allies. By mastering the art of party-wide healing, you become an invaluable asset in the most challenging encounters.

By embracing the complexities of boss fights, trials, and raids, you will emerge as a true master of healing. Prioritize single-target damage, maintain awareness of mechanics, and utilize your arsenal of oGCD healing abilities. Ensure the well-being of your tanks while excelling in the realm of AoE party healing. With each encounter, you will grow in skill and confidence, bringing light and restoration to even the darkest corners of battle.

Prepare to conquer the realm's most formidable adversaries, champion the cause of your party, and claim victory as a White Mage in the breathtaking realm of Final Fantasy XIV. Let your healing prowess shine brightly as you navigate the trials and tribulations that await you.

The cast majority of your rotation will consist of maintaining Dia Icon Dia on the boss and otherwise spamming Glare III Icon Glare III.

Unleashing the Power Within: Mastering White Mage Openers

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, the beginning moments of any encounter are crucial for establishing your presence and optimizing your damage potential. The utilization of a well-executed opener sets the stage for success, allowing you to unleash the full extent of your mystical abilities. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of White Mage openers, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to maximize your damage output and make a significant impact in the early moments of battle.

The White Mage opener is built upon a foundation of simplicity and effectiveness. By adhering to a few key principles, you can maximize your damage potential and establish a strong foothold in any encounter. Let us explore the core components of a White Mage opener, providing you with the tools to embark on your path to greatness.

  1. Glare III: As the battle ensues, the first step in your opener involves precasting Glare III. By initiating this powerful single-target damage spell 2 seconds before the boss is pulled, you gain the advantage of dealing additional damage right from the start. This proactive approach allows you to seize the initiative and establish your presence in the battle with a potent burst of damage.

  2. Dia: Immediately after the boss is engaged, it is imperative to apply Dia, your Damage over Time (DoT) spell, as soon as possible. This ensures that the enemy is afflicted with this persistent source of damage throughout the encounter. By maintaining Dia on the target, you contribute to sustained damage over time, making a significant impact on the enemy's health pool.

  3. Assize and Presence of Mind: The strategic use of Assize and Presence of Mind plays a vital role in maximizing your damage output during raid buffs. These abilities are best utilized during designated raid buff windows to capitalize on the enhanced damage potential. By incorporating Assize, an area-of-effect damage and healing ability, and Presence of Mind, which reduces cast time and global cooldown recast time, you harness the full might of your abilities to unleash devastating damage upon your adversaries.

Within the realm of White Mage openers, there exist two variations that share these fundamental principles. These variations allow for flexibility and adaptability based on the specific encounter and party composition. By understanding the core principles of the opener, you can customize and optimize your approach to best suit the unique demands of each battle.

Mastering White Mage openers requires practice, precision, and adaptability. By fine-tuning your timing, coordinating with your party's buffs, and optimizing your spell rotation, you will emerge as a force to be reckoned with in the opening moments of any encounter. Seize the opportunity to establish dominance, make your mark on the battlefield, and set the tone for victory.

Explore the depths of White Mage openers, experiment with variations, and refine your approach through diligent practice. Embrace the power that lies within you and become a maestro of devastation and restoration. As a White Mage, your opener is not merely a routine, but a symphony of calculated destruction and healing, harmonizing with the rhythm of battle.

Elevate your gameplay, elevate your impact, and let your opener resonate throughout the realms of Final Fantasy XIV. The path to greatness awaits those who dare to unleash their full potential as a White Mage.

The Tried and True: Exploring the Standard White Mage Opener

When it comes to White Mage openers in Final Fantasy XIV, reliability and consistency are paramount. The standard opener provides a solid foundation that can be relied upon in various encounters, ensuring a steady and effective start to your healing and damage-dealing endeavors. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of the standard White Mage opener, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to optimize your performance without the need for risky maneuvers.

The standard opener is designed to provide a reliable and consistent approach to maximize your damage potential. While it does not incorporate the use of Swiftcast, it eliminates the risks associated with early Swiftcast usage. It is an ideal choice for those seeking a safe and consistent opener without compromising their overall performance. Let us explore the components of this tried and true approach.

  1. Glare III: As the battle commences, begin your opener by precasting Glare III. By initiating this potent single-target damage spell before the boss is pulled, you gain an early advantage in dealing substantial damage. This proactive approach sets the tone for the encounter, allowing you to establish your presence and contribute significantly to your party's success.

  2. Dia: Immediately after engaging the boss, apply Dia, your Damage over Time (DoT) spell, without delay. This ensures that the enemy remains afflicted with this persistent source of damage throughout the encounter. By maintaining Dia on the target, you contribute to sustained damage over time, further enhancing your overall damage output.

  3. Assize and Presence of Mind: During raid buffs, maximize your damage potential by strategically utilizing Assize and Presence of Mind. Assize, a versatile ability that inflicts both area-of-effect damage and provides healing, can be unleashed during raid buff windows to amplify your damage contribution. Concurrently, activate Presence of Mind, reducing cast time and global cooldown recast time, allowing you to unleash a flurry of spells with heightened efficiency. By synchronizing the use of these abilities, you can unleash devastating damage upon your adversaries while maintaining optimal healing capabilities.

While the standard opener ensures reliability and consistent performance, it is important to note that weaving Assize under Presence of Mind may risk clipping in higher ping situations, typically above ~100ms. However, the impact of this potential clipping is usually minimal, and the opener remains highly effective in most scenarios. For those seeking a higher-ping friendly opener, alternative approaches can be explored.

By embracing the standard White Mage opener, you can embark on your healing journey with confidence and reliability. Practice the precise timing, master the spell rotations, and optimize your damage output. As a White Mage, your opener is more than a mere sequence of spells; it is a testament to your skill, adaptability, and dedication to the art of healing.

Seize the opportunity to establish your presence in battle, make a lasting impact, and set the stage for triumph. The realm of Eorzea awaits your arrival, where your mastery of the standard opener will resonate throughout the annals of Final Fantasy XIV.

Unleash the full potential of your White Mage, unlock the secrets of the standard opener, and embrace the path to greatness as a paragon of restoration and devastation.

Unleashing the Swiftness: Exploring the Swift White Mage Opener

For White Mages in Final Fantasy XIV, finding the perfect balance between efficiency and adaptability is paramount. The swift opener offers a solution for those seeking a high-ping friendly approach that minimizes the risk of clipping. By incorporating the versatile Swiftcast ability, you can seamlessly weave Assize and Presence of Mind within a single Global Cooldown (GCD), optimizing your performance while maintaining fluidity in your spellcasting. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of the swift White Mage opener, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to unleash your full potential in any encounter.

The swift opener is designed to mitigate potential clipping issues that can arise from weaving Assize and Presence of Mind under high-ping conditions. By utilizing Swiftcast, you can ensure a smoother spell rotation without sacrificing overall performance. However, it is important to note that if Swiftcast is required early in the fight for movement during a mechanic, it is recommended to revert to the standard opener. Let us explore the components of this dynamic approach.

  1. Glare III: Begin your swift opener by precasting Glare III, as in the standard opener. This initial burst of single-target damage sets the stage for the encounter, establishing your presence and contributing significantly to your party's success.

  2. Swiftcast: Swiftcast, a versatile ability unique to White Mages, becomes the linchpin of the swift opener. By utilizing Swiftcast, you gain the ability to weave Assize and Presence of Mind within a single GCD, reducing the risk of clipping and maintaining a seamless spell rotation. It provides the flexibility needed to optimize your damage output while adapting to the demands of each encounter.

  3. Assize and Presence of Mind: With Swiftcast at your disposal, weave Assize and Presence of Mind together, utilizing the enhanced efficiency of both abilities in a single GCD. Assize unleashes devastating area-of-effect damage while providing healing to your party, ensuring both offensive and defensive contributions. Simultaneously, Presence of Mind reduces cast time and global cooldown recast time, enabling you to unleash a flurry of spells with heightened efficiency. By synchronizing these abilities, you can unleash a devastating onslaught of damage upon your adversaries while maintaining optimal healing capabilities.

The swift opener strikes a delicate balance between speed and precision, allowing you to adapt to the challenges presented by high-ping situations. By mastering the timing and execution of Swiftcast, Assize, and Presence of Mind, you unlock the full potential of your White Mage, establishing yourself as a force to be reckoned with in any encounter.

Embrace the swiftness that lies within you, optimize your spell rotations, and adapt to the unique demands of each battle. As a White Mage, your opener is not merely a sequence of actions; it is an embodiment of your skill, adaptability, and commitment to the art of healing.

Seize the opportunity to harness the power of the swift opener, make a resounding impact, and set the stage for triumph. The realm of Eorzea eagerly awaits your arrival, where your mastery of the swift opener will resound throughout the annals of Final Fantasy XIV.

Unleash your full potential as a White Mage, unlock the secrets of the swift opener, and embark on the path to greatness as a beacon of restoration and devastation.

Single-Target Rotation Priority

  1. Use Presence of Mind Icon Presence of Mind on cooldown or with the rest of your raid buffs after the opener.
  2. Use Assize Icon Assize on cooldown after the opener.
  3. Maintain Dia Icon Dia on the boss as long as the boss will be active for at least 15s.
  4. Use Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery in raid buffs, for movement, or before using additional Lily heals to prevent overcapping red lilies (see note below).
  5. Use Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace to prevent overcapping blue lilies, or for healing or movement.
  6. Use Lucid Dreaming Icon Lucid Dreaming on cooldown below 8000 MP to maintain MP.
  7. Use Glare III Icon Glare III whenever you have time to cast it and do not need to GCD heal.
  8. Use Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace for movement if you do not have time to cast Glare III Icon Glare III and do not have Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast or are holding it for additional movement.
  9. Use Dia Icon Dia for movement outside its natural refresh if you do not have Lilies or Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast.

Note: As of 6.1 using Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace to build Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery is now equal damage to spamming Glare III Icon Glare III on single target, although using Misery in buffs makes it a damage gain to use lilies isntead. Lily heals can now be used fairly freely and overcapping lilies should typically be avoided.

Multi-Target Damage

Sustained multi-target fights are very rare in FFXIV, and most of your multi-target damage will be dungeon mob pulls or the odd add phase in a high level encounter.

  1. Presence of Mind Icon Presence of Mind should still be used on cooldown.
  2. Assize Icon Assize can be held to hit additional targets; eg. using Assize Icon Assize on three targets vs one target is worth losing a one-target Assize Icon Assize.
  3. Use Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery when available.
  4. Holy III Icon Holy III is a damage gain over Glare III Icon Glare III at three or more targets.
  5. Using Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace to build Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery is worthwhile in uptime on two or more targets, but Lilies are still better spent for movement or healing than raw damage when possible. Avoid overcapping Lilies.
  6. At two to four targets, maintain Dia Icon Dia on all targets assuming they will live the full duration.
  7. At five or more targets, avoid using Dia Icon Dia and instead spam Holy III Icon Holy III.

Maintaining Uptime

A large majority of the damage you do is simply based on GCD uptime, maximizing the amount of time you spend using Glare III Icon Glare III on the boss. Extended movement is the enemy of uptime, but you have several tools to deal with these.

  1. Slidecasting
    • "Slidecasting" involves moving before a cast has completed without interrupting the cast. The slidecast window in FFXIV is quite large compared to other MMOs. The exact timing depends on your ping, but it generally starts about 0.5s before the cast bar is finished. Between the slidecast window and the ~1s between Glare III Icon Glare III casts, you can be quite mobile all the time and easily preposition for most mechanics.
  2. Dia Icon Dia
    • Dia Icon Dia is instant cast, so you can use your natural DoT refreshes to freely move during mechanics or to preposition yourself. Do not force early DoT refreshes to move though.
  3. Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace
    • Lily heals can be used for movement outside natural Dia Icon Dia refreshes, but should be prioritized for healing when necessary.
    • Afflatus spells are all instant cast and either deal damage directly or heal and contribute towards charging an Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery.
    • Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery deals 1240p damage and takes three Lily heals to generate, meaning over four GCD's it deals a total of 1240p, exactly equal to four Glare III Icon Glare III's 1240p.
    • Lily spells should always be considered in sets of four GCDs. Once you use one Lily, you are instantly down 310p, but using the next three gains 1240p back, equal to all the lost GCDs.
  4. Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast
    • Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast makes your next spell instant cast and can be used on Glare III Icon Glare III to give a GCD of free movement. This is not advisable in progression and can be dangerous when playing in other unoptimized situations when you may need Swiftcast Icon Swiftcast for use with Raise Icon Raise.
  5. Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery
    • If you already have a Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery available and none of the above tools to deal with a movement, Afflatus Misery Icon Afflatus Misery is a great movement tool.

Unveiling the Mysteries: Understanding White Mage Stat Priority

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, the allocation of stats is a crucial aspect of optimizing your performance. By understanding the stat priority, you can make informed decisions when it comes to gearing up and enhancing your capabilities as a formidable healer. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of White Mage stat priority, equipping you with the knowledge needed to make wise choices and maximize your effectiveness in every encounter.

The stat priority for White Mage can be summarized as follows:

  1. Weapon Damage: Weapon Damage holds the highest priority for White Mage. It directly influences the potency of your spells, making it essential for maximizing your healing and damage-dealing potential.

  2. Mind: Mind is the primary attribute for White Mage, directly influencing the potency of your healing spells. Investing in Mind increases your ability to mend wounds and support your party members, making it a top priority for any aspiring White Mage.

  3. Critical Hit: Critical Hit provides a chance for your spells to deliver critical strikes, inflicting significantly higher damage or healing. Investing in Critical Hit enhances your overall performance by increasing the potential impact of your spells.

  4. Direct Hit: Direct Hit grants a chance for your spells to land as direct hits, bypassing the enemy's defenses and delivering increased damage. While healers cannot receive Direct Hit on gear directly, it is still a valuable substat to prioritize due to its synergy with Determination.

  5. Determination: Determination boosts the overall effectiveness of your spells, increasing both healing and damage potential. While it is technically a better substat overall than Direct Hit, focusing on Direct Hit is pragmatically a better choice for healers due to gear limitations. Determination and Direct Hit scale off each other, and the closer they are to each other, the stronger each becomes.

  6. Spell Speed: Spell Speed increases the speed at which your spells are cast, allowing for more casts per minute. However, it also leads to higher MP consumption, potentially depleting your MP pool and hindering your ability to cast spells consistently. While Spell Speed can be desirable to some extent, it should be approached with caution and avoided in excess to prevent MP management issues.

  7. Piety: Piety influences your MP pool, affecting your ability to sustain prolonged healing and casting. While some Piety is necessary to ensure you have enough MP for a fight, taking excessive Piety is not recommended as it detracts from other substats that can enhance your damage potential. Striking a balance between having enough Piety to sustain yourself and prioritizing other substats is crucial for optimizing your White Mage's performance.

It is important to note that stat priorities can vary based on your playstyle, party composition, and the content you are tackling. Experimentation and adaptability are key in finding the ideal balance for your White Mage.

Armed with the knowledge of stat priority, you can now make informed decisions when it comes to gear selection and customization. Seek the optimal balance between Mind, Critical Hit, Direct Hit, and Determination to maximize your potential as a White Mage. Embrace the delicate dance between these substats, harness their synergies, and unlock the full potential of your healing capabilities.

Remember, the difference between substats is often subtle, and personal preference can play a role in determining your stat allocation. Choose the substats that align with your playstyle and preferences, as the overall impact between them is negligible in most cases.

Embrace the power of knowledge, fine-tune your stat allocation, and embark on your journey as a masterful White Mage, bringing solace and restoration to the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

Unlocking the Potential: Materia Melds for White Mage

In the world of Final Fantasy XIV, the art of materia melding allows you to further enhance your gear and unlock its hidden potential. As a White Mage, understanding the optimal materia melds is crucial for maximizing your effectiveness as a healer. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of materia melds for White Mage, equipping you with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and unleash the full power of your gear.

When it comes to melding your gear as a White Mage, it is essential to refer to the stat priority list mentioned earlier. This list serves as a guiding principle in directing your materia meld decisions. Let us explore the recommended approaches for each substat:

  1. Critical Hit: Meld Critical Hit wherever possible. This substat provides a chance for your spells to deliver critical strikes, resulting in increased damage or healing. By prioritizing Critical Hit, you amplify the potential impact of your spells, making them more potent and influential.

  2. Direct Hit and Determination: If Critical Hit is capped or would not receive the full benefit of the meld, prioritize melding either Direct Hit or Determination. Both substats contribute to your overall damage potential, with Direct Hit granting a chance for direct hits that bypass enemy defenses, and Determination boosting the overall effectiveness of your spells. Generally speaking, Direct Hit will provide slightly more damage due to the way healer gear is set in Final Fantasy XIV. Choose the substat that aligns with your personal preference, as the difference in overall impact is minimal.

  3. Spell Speed: While it is generally advisable to avoid melding Spell Speed on White Mage, there are scenarios where melding Spell Speed can be valuable. Spell Speed has added scaling with the extra recast time provided by White Mage's Presence of Mind. This can make it a viable option for certain situations. However, it is crucial to exercise caution when melding Spell Speed, as its impact can vary depending on factors such as player skill, group performance, and the specific content being tackled. Consider the circumstances carefully before opting to meld Spell Speed.

  4. Piety: Minimize the inclusion of Piety in your materia melds. While some Piety is necessary to ensure you have enough MP for sustained healing, it is generally recommended to prioritize other substats that enhance your damage potential. Dropping Spell Speed in favor of melding more Determination, Direct Hit, or Critical Hit will often yield better results for White Mages.

Understanding the intricacies of materia melding for White Mage requires careful consideration of your playstyle, party composition, and the content you are undertaking. Experimentation and adaptability are key in finding the optimal melding strategy that aligns with your goals and preferences.

Unlock the hidden potential of your gear, make wise melding choices, and embark on your journey as a masterful White Mage, harnessing the true power of restoration and devastation.

Equip yourself with the knowledge of materia melding, fine-tune your gear, and let your melds shine brightly as you venture forth into the wondrous realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

By utilizing the right potions and food, you can bolster your capabilities, increase your damage output, and sustain your healing prowess. 1. Potions: Potions in FFXIV are a straightforward way to enhance your abilities. As a White Mage, you will always want to use the highest-tier potion available that boosts your main stat. In the current patch (6.2), the Grade 7 Tincture of Mind is the potion of choice. By incorporating these potions into your arsenal, you can maximize your contribution to the battle and unleash devastating attacks upon your enemies. Additionally, it is essential for healers to carry Super-Ethers as a backup in case they run out of MP or face unexpected challenges during a fight. Super-Ethers provide a valuable resource to replenish your MP pool and ensure uninterrupted healing capabilities.

  2. Food: Food is an integral part of optimizing your performance as a White Mage. The choice of food can significantly impact your overall stats and bolster your effectiveness in combat. Best-in-slot gearsets often include specific food choices that provide the desired amount of stats to complement your playstyle and party composition. To determine the ideal food for your White Mage, it is recommended to visit the White Mage Best-in-Slot page, where you can find detailed information about the gearsets and the corresponding food options. By aligning your chosen food with your gear and desired stats, you can further enhance your healing abilities, increase your damage potential, and ensure that you are operating at the peak of your abilities.

By embracing the power of consumables, you can unlock your full potential as a White Mage, harnessing the nourishing effects of potions and food to amplify your impact on the battlefield. Remember to stockpile the appropriate potions and keep a supply of Super-Ethers at hand to adapt to the ever-changing demands of combat. Mastering the Art of Healing: White Mage Healing Priority

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, you wield the power of restoration and serve as the stalwart guardian of your party's well-being. With its focus on regenerative and pure healing, White Mage boasts a straightforward healing kit that revolves around direct heals and regen spells. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of White Mage healing priority, equipping you with the knowledge and strategies needed to excel in your role as a master healer.

  1. Free oGCD Heals: The first priority in your healing arsenal is the efficient utilization of your free oGCD (off-Global Cooldown) healing abilities. These abilities, which cost no damage or MP, provide invaluable support in emergency situations or when immediate healing is required. By promptly deploying your free oGCD heals, such as Tetragrammaton and Benediction, you can swiftly stabilize your party and turn the tide of battle in their favor.

  2. Afflatus (Lily) GCD Heals: White Mage's unique Afflatus heals, powered by the accumulation of Lilies, take precedence over other GCD (Global Cooldown) healing spells whenever possible. These heals not only restore HP but also have the potential to refund damage through the devastating Afflatus Misery. Utilizing your Lilies effectively enables you to mitigate the damage sustained by your party while maintaining a steady flow of healing. Remember, lilies generate at a rate of one per 30 seconds, so prudent management of your Lilies becomes crucial in optimizing your healing potential.

  3. GCD Heals: When oGCD heals and Afflatus heals are unavailable or not required, turn to your GCD healing spells to ensure the continuous sustenance of your party. These spells, while costing both MP and a portion of your damage potential, are the foundation of your healing arsenal. Whether it is Cure, Cure II, or Medica, your GCD heals provide reliable and efficient healing over time. Carefully manage your MP resources to maintain a balance between sustaining your party and preserving your offensive capabilities.

As a healer, remember that the responsibility of keeping the party alive does not rest solely on your shoulders. Other party members can contribute to the collective survival by utilizing their own healing and mitigation abilities. Synergy and coordination between healers and party members are paramount to optimizing the efficiency of your healing efforts.

By following the established healing priority, you ensure that healing resources are utilized in the most effective manner, minimizing the overall cost to both MP and damage potential. As you navigate the challenges of battle, adaptability and quick decision-making are key to responding to the ever-changing dynamics of each encounter.

Unleash the full potential of your healing prowess, master the art of White Mage healing priority, and become an unwavering beacon of restoration and support in the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

  3. Assize: While primarily an AoE damage and healing ability, Assize also provides substantial single-target healing. Its wide range and generous potency make it an invaluable resource for addressing the needs of a specific party member in need of immediate healing.

AoE Healing Abilities:

  1. Medica II: This powerful AoE regen spell envelops your party members in a soothing aura, gradually restoring their HP over time. Medica II is a versatile ability that provides sustained healing to the entire group, making it ideal for situations where party-wide damage is imminent.

  2. Divine Benison: This protective barrier shields your party members from harm, mitigating incoming damage and providing a buffer against potential threats. Divine Benison can be cast on a single target, but its benefits extend to nearby party members as well, making it a valuable tool for safeguarding the collective well-being of your party.

In certain scenarios, such as when a single party member requires urgent healing, an AoE heal can be directed towards them to provide immediate relief. Adaptability and quick decision-making are essential in determining the most effective usage of your oGCD healing abilities in each fight.

Unleashing the Power of Single-Target Abilities

As a skilled White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, your arsenal includes a variety of potent single-target healing abilities that can turn the tide of battle and save lives in critical moments. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the intricacies of these abilities and explore their optimal usage to maximize their effectiveness.

  1. Divine Benison (DB or Benison):

    • Divine Benison provides a small shield to the target and has a short 30-second cooldown, with the ability to store up to two charges.
    • This ability is primarily used for tank upkeep, ensuring their resilience during battles. However, it can also be used to save any party member with low HP before a potentially lethal raidwide attack.
    • It is recommended to keep at least one charge on cooldown at all times to maximize its effective healing, reserving the second charge for more dire situations.
  2. Aquaveil:

    • Aquaveil offers a 15% damage mitigation to the target and has a medium 60-second cooldown.
    • This ability is commonly employed to reduce the damage taken by tanks during tankbuster attacks. It can also be used to mitigate auto-attacks or to safeguard any party member with low HP before a deadly raidwide attack.
  3. Tetragrammaton (Tetra):

    • Tetragrammaton instantly restores a moderate amount of HP to the target and has a 60-second cooldown.
    • Similar to other single-target heals, Tetra is typically used as soon as it is available to maintain tank HP. However, it can also be used to rescue any party member with low HP before a potentially lethal raidwide attack.
  4. Benediction (Bene):

    • Arguably the most defining ability of White Mage, Benediction is a game-changer. It instantly restores HP equivalent to the maximum HP of the target, which can be approximately 3700 potency on a tank at 1 HP. It has a long three-minute cooldown.
    • Benediction is exceptionally effective in resolving the Dark Knight's Living Dead status, instantly removing the Walking Dead debuff with a single cast. When paired with a Dark Knight, it is often reserved specifically for this purpose.
    • While not typically necessary, Benediction can also be useful for handling Superbolide or other emergency situations. It serves as a powerful oGCD single-target healing tool that can be utilized strategically to ensure the survival of party members.

By understanding the nuances and strengths of each single-target ability, you can strategically deploy them to maintain tank health, safeguard party members, and overcome challenging encounters. Communication and coordination with your co-healer and party members are vital in optimizing the usage of these abilities for maximum impact.

Embrace the power bestowed upon you as a White Mage, master the art of single-target healing, and become a beacon of hope and restoration in the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

AoE (Area of Effect) Abilities

  1. Asylum Icon Asylum
    • Asylum is a ground-targeted AoE ability on a 90s cooldowns that regenerates health and provides a small 10% healing up to anyone in the effect.
    • Asylum is typically the first ability WHM uses to respond to AoE damage, although its ground placement can limit its effectiveness for healing mechanics that require substantial movement. It is often held for slow healing after mechanics where the party is unlikely to move.
  2. Assize Icon Assize
    • Assize deals damage, heals, and restores MP on a 40s cooldown.
    • Assize use is fairly rigid - the damage and MP it provides are both extremely valuable, so it is almost always used on cooldown for damage rather than specifically for healing. Delaying Assize will also cause it to drift out of 2 min raid buffs and result in much less contribution to party damage.
    • Assize should not be used when the boss cannot be damaged unless you really have no better healing option.
    • It can occasionally be worth delaying an Assize use if it makes more sense for a healing plan and will not cost a use overall in the fight, but this is usually only worth doing with a well-established kill time in mind.
  3. Plenary Indulgence Icon Plenary Indulgence (PI, Plenary, or Confession)
    • PI provides no direct healing or mitigation on use and instead applies a buff to everyone in range that adds 200 direct healing to any AoE healing GCD spells used by the White Mage for the duration of the buff, such as Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture or Medica II Icon Medica II.
    • PI is most commonly used to increase the potency of Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture but can be used on any AoE GCD heal when it is off cooldown and the party requires GCD healing.
    • The healing provided by this ability will only trigger on the initial healing effect of the GCD heal it affects; it will not trigger every time Medica II Icon Medica II ticks.
  4. Temperance Icon Temperance (Temp)
    • Temp is White Mage's only AoE mitigation effect and has a long two-minute cooldown.
    • Temp has two effects. The first increases the White Mage's healing magic potency by 20% (note that healing magic refers to GCD spells only), and the second provides 10% damage reduction to the entire party in a large radius around the White Mage.
    • Temp is typically used for the mitigation alone, although it is often used in cases where it happens to also catch some GCD healing for a bit more HP.
  5. Liturgy of the Bell Icon Liturgy of the Bell (Lilybell)
    • Lilybell is a ground-targeted reactive pulse heal with a long three-minute cooldown. On cast, it spawns a totem-like bell and gives the White Mage a five-stack buff that lasts 20s.
    • When the White Mage takes damage, one stack of the buff is consumed and the bell heals all party members within its radius for 400p.
    • After 20s, or on second button press, all remaining stacks are consumed and the bell heals for 200p per consumed stack.
    • Lilybell is ideally used for large multi-hit mechanics that will maximize its healing potential, however, in the absence of such mechanics, it can also be used as a single large heal after a raidwide.
    • Lilybell healing appears to have a short internal cooldown of ~1s, so multiple fast hits will not necessarily trigger every single time. Lilybell also appears to have a minor pet potency modifier of around 96% of player potency.

Harnessing the Power of Afflatus (Lily) Healing Spells

As a skilled White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, you possess a unique set of healing spells known as Afflatus spells. These spells occupy a crucial position in your healing priority, sitting between oGCD (off-Global Cooldown) abilities and GCD (Global Cooldown) spells. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the intricacies of Afflatus healing spells, their potency, and their optimal utilization in various combat scenarios.

Afflatus spells, as of the 6.1 update, are essentially equal in priority to oGCD heals due to their comparable potency to Glare III. A set of four Glare III spells adds up to a total potency of 1240p, and three lily heals along with Afflatus Misery also sum up to 1240p. This makes using lily heals under raid buffs a damage gain. While lily heals may not possess the same level of raw healing power as other GCD heals, they compensate for it by being free, instant, and refunding a portion of the damage lost.

Lilies are generated every 20 seconds during combat, including periods of downtime. Each lily heal costs one lily, and you can store up to three lilies at a time. It is important to note that lily heals are not solely used for healing purposes. Their offensive potential is explored in-depth in the damage rotation guide.

Let's delve into the two primary Afflatus healing spells:

  1. Afflatus Solace (Solace):

    • Solace is the single-target healing lily spell, equivalent in potency to Cure II.
    • While Solace sees limited use in trials and raids, it plays a significant role in dungeons, particularly for effective tank healing.
  2. Afflatus Rapture (Rapture):

    • Rapture is the AoE healing lily spell. Although its potency is comparable to that of Medica, it is the most commonly used GCD heal by White Mages in higher-end content.
    • The advantages of Rapture lie in its range, which surpasses that of Medica, and the benefits offered by lily spells described earlier.
    • Rapture is employed to address any AoE healing needs that cannot be adequately covered by the oGCD abilities of both healers. It is especially effective when paired with extended movement mechanics.

By leveraging the potency and versatility of Afflatus healing spells, you can provide efficient and timely healing support to your party members. Remember to coordinate with your co-healer and adapt your healing strategy based on the unique demands of each encounter.

Embrace the power of your lily spells, master the art of Afflatus healing, and become a beacon of restoration and resilience in the realms of Final Fantasy XIV.

GCD Healing Spells

GCD heals are your last line of healing defense as they come at substantial damage and MP costs and frequent use of them is often unsustainable. While GCD heals should be avoided as often as possible, they are fantastic progression tools due to always being available and offering the highest raw healing potency in your healing arsenal. While they may provide comfort through heavy healing situations, they should be worked out of most healing plans in favor of more efficient heals.

Single-Target Spells

  1. Cure Icon Cure
    • The first healing spell you get and by far the most useless in high-end content is Cure. It is a small, fast, cheap heal that has little place in the healing meta since it takes a full GCD to cast and offers less healing than Cure II Icon Cure II, Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace, or Regen Icon Regen.
    • Outside low-level synced content, Cure is really only used when you cannot cast anything else due to MP constraints, or need a faster heal than Cure II Icon Cure II or Regen Icon Regen if someone is about to die.
    • The Freecure proc should be completely ignored at all levels of play.
  2. Cure II Icon Cure II
    • Cure II is a basic single-target heal, use it when someone needs healing, Regen Icon Regen is too slow, and you do not have any oGCDs available or lilies for Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace.
  3. Regen Icon Regen
    • Regen applies a strong regen to the target that totals 1500p, nearly double the potency of Cure II Icon Cure II and Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace.
    • Regen can be used for tank maintenance in heavy damage cases such as dungeon pulls and ultimate bosses, but still takes a distant third place to oGCD heals and Afflatus Solace Icon Afflatus Solace when possible.

AoE Spells

  1. Medica Icon Medica
    • Medica is a small direct AoE heal. It is typically only used if Medica II Icon Medica II is already ticking, you have no lilies for Afflatus Rapture Icon Afflatus Rapture, and the party is too spread for Cure III Icon Cure III.
  2. Medica II Icon Medica II
    • Medica II is the strongest AoE heal in the White Mage arsenal. It has a small up front heal and applies a regen for 1000p total healing per target.
    • Medica II is the first non-lily GCD heal you resort to when GCD healing is needed; it is fantastic for maintaining HP during mechanics or for recovering quickly afterwards.
  3. Cure III Icon Cure III
    • Cure III provides a fairly large up-front heal but has a small radius that requires the party to stack quite closely if they need the healing. Cure III is also extremely expensive at 1800 MP per cast.
    • Cure III is typically reserved for emergency situations when the party needs immediate HP or for intense healing checks. Overuse should be avoided at all costs due to the hefty MP cost.

Unlocking the Versatility of White Mage Gear Sets in Patch 6.4

As a White Mage in Final Fantasy XIV, you have the unique advantage of possessing unparalleled flexibility when it comes to gear sets. This flexibility stems from the White Mage's lower mana requirements, the potency equivalence of Lily heals to Glare, and the presence of Thin Air, a powerful ability that alleviates the mana costs associated with spells like Raise and GCD heals such as Medica II. Unlike Scholar and Astrologian, who must carefully align their GCDs with raid buffs, White Mage has no such restraints, allowing for a wide range of GCD options. This inherent flexibility enables White Mages to comfortably adopt and excel with almost any gear set used by other healers, without experiencing any substantial damage loss compared to their preferred sets.

The ability to adapt to various gear sets grants White Mages the freedom to optimize their playstyle according to different encounter requirements and party compositions. Whether you choose to embrace the spell speed-oriented sets of Scholars, the crit and direct hit-focused sets of Astrologians, or explore unique combinations, the choice is yours. White Mage's mana efficiency and lack of strict GCD alignment constraints enable you to seamlessly integrate into any party composition and fulfill your healing duties with utmost efficiency.

With the vast array of gear options at your disposal, you can experiment, strategize, and find the perfect gear set that suits your playstyle and complements the demands of the content you engage in. Stay attuned to the changing landscape of gear options, explore different combinations, and unleash the true potential of your White Mage as you embark on thrilling adventures in Final Fantasy XIV.

Embrace the versatility of your gear sets, adapt to any situation, and become a beacon of resilience and adaptability in the realms of Eorzea.
