Dragonflight Survival Hunter DPS Guide

Survival Hunter Overview

A melee DPS speciality wearing mail and using 2-handed agility weapons is Survival. A quick-moving melee-focused DPS spec is available to you with Survival, in contrast to the other two DPS specifications the Hunter class currently has access to. They engage in close-quarter combat with their devoted beast, combining vicious melee attacks, poison, and homemade explosives to completely dominate their opponents while using every weapon at their disposal.

For gamers who enjoy large numbers, quick gameplay, pets, and a distinct identity, the Survival Hunter specialty is for them.

Survival Hunter Stats

Agility is your primary stat, found on mail gear. Agility increases your attack power and damage done on abilities.

For secondary stats, the Survival Hunter has the following:

  • Weapon DPS >>> Agility >> Haste = Crit > Mastery > Versatility
  • Critical Strike: Grants you and your pet a chance to deal double damage on each attack.
  • Haste: Increases your and your pets auto attack speeds and Focus regeneration rates and reduces the cooldowns of some abilities.
  • Mastery:  Mastery: Spirit Bond - Increases damage of all attacks that consume focus, and gives you constant healing if you have your pet active.
  • Versatility: Increases all the damage you do, and reduces all damage taken.

Survival Hunter Phials

In group content, there are going to be a few different options for you.

Survival Hunter Combat Potions

There are a couple different potions that have different useful scenarios for Survival Hunters:

Survival Hunter Weapon Buff

While you are gearing up, you're encouraged to use  Primal Whetstone or  Primal Weightstone.

Once you are sufficiently geared,  Buzzing Rune and  Howling Rune also become valid or better options. Deciding which rune to use is typically best simulated, but neither will be far apart from the other in terms of performance.

Best Survival Hunter Gems

There are a few different gems to consider based on the content you're doing as well as your character's stats. Broken record: Always good to sim! Here are some good suggestions.

Survival Hunter Rotation Priority

Survival Hunter Opener

The survival hunter opener is one of the simplest openers we have available, with just two lines.

  1. Use your active  Wildfire Infusion.

Survival Hunter Single-Target Rotation and Priority

  1. Use  Death Chakram on cooldown prior to using  Spearhead. This way, you get the Focus restoration and damage amplification during  Spearhead.
  2. Use  Spearhead if you cannot use  Kill Command without over capping your Focus.
  3. Use  Kill Command to consume your  Deadly Duo stacks if you are at 2 or more stacks of  Deadly Duo.
  4. Use  Mongoose Bite very aggressively during  Spearhead with no regard to  Mongoose Fury stacks.
  5. Use  Mongoose Bite to spend any remaining Focus if the encounter is about to end.
  6. Use  Kill Shot when available.
  7. Use  Flanking Strike if using it won't over cap your Focus.
  8. Use  Pheromone Bomb if your Focus is low enough to use two  Kill Command without overcapping Focus.
  9. Use  Kill Command if using it won't over cap your Focus.
  10. Use  Mongoose Bite if  Shrapnel Bomb is up even if it means you need to start a new  Mongoose Fury window early.
  11. Use  Mongoose Bite if  Mongoose Fury is up to spend Focus.
  12. Use  Mongoose Bite if  Mongoose Fury is not active and you are at high Focus (65-90 depending on  Kill Command cooldown).
  13. Use your active  Wildfire Infusion enhanced  Wildfire Bomb if there is nothing else available in the priority list above.

Survival Hunter Multi-Target Rotation and Priority

  1. Use  Wildfire Bomb if you're at maximum charges, regardless of the current  Wildfire Infusion.
  2. Use  Death Chakram if using it won't over cap your Focus.
  3. Use  Coordinated Assault when available.
  4. Use  Kill Shot if  Coordinated Assault's empower buff is active to apply  Bleeding Gash.
  5. Use  Explosive Shot when available.
  6. Use  Butchery if you're at maximum  Butchery charges, or if  Shrapnel Bomb DoT is currently ticking on your target(s).
  7. Use  Wildfire Bomb regardless of the current  Wildfire Infusion.
  8. Use  Fury of the Eagle when available.
  9. Use  Flanking Strike on cooldown if you won't overcap your Focus.
  10. Use  Butchery if your next bomb is not Shrapnel Bomb DoT.
  11. Use  Mongoose Bite on targets that are approaching maximum (8+) stacks of  Poison Injection.
  12. Use  Kill Command if using it won't over cap your Focus.
  13. Use  Kill Shot when available.
  14. Use  Mongoose Bite on any target that has the least amount of  Serpent Sting remaining (applies through  Viper's Venom ).
