Frost Death Knight Overview
The plate-wearing, dual-wielding Frost Death Knight DPS specialization focuses on both physical and magical damage. With our bolstered Obliterates, we can deliver devastating blows to our opponents, breathe ice on them with Breath of Sindragosa and Frostwyrm's Fury, and immerse them in a blizzard with Remorseless Winter. We put a lot of emphasis on cleave damage and excel in 2 target cleave.
As we are a hero class, new Frost Death Knights begin at level 8 rather than level 1. Apart for the Dracthyr, all races can play Frost Death Knights. A Frost Death Knight is a good choice if you enjoy powerful blows, powerful cleaves, and lucrative cooldowns.

Frost Death Knight Stats
Strength serves as the main stat for the Frost Death Knight. It boosts our Attack Power, which in turn increases the damage of our skills. Strength now has a lot more worth compared to secondary stats in Battle for Azeroth as a result of Blizzard's choice to rescale the way stats operate in the game. In actuality, this greatly increases the significance of Item Level.
For secondary stats, the Frost Death Knight has the following:
- Strength >> Crit >= Mastery > Haste = Vers
Critical strike increases the chance of dealing critical damage with your spells. This has synergy with our Killing Machine ability since the number of procs is proportional to the number of crit autos we get.
Haste increases our Rune regeneration rate and decreases the Global Cooldown. It also increases the proc rates of many items and talents.
Mastery increases our frost damage done. This is most useful for AoE where the proportion of frost damage is the highest. The initial Mastery Diminishing Return kicks in at 76%.
Versatility increases damage and healing done and decreases damage taken.

Best Frost Death Knight Phials
Overall the best phial for Frost Death Knights is Phial of Elemental Chaos or Phial of Tepid Versatility. The choice here generally depends on your current stats so make sure to sim your character! Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage is a potential alternative but with a significant drawback. Whenever you take heavy damage, the actual usefulness of this phial diminishes, making it much worse. It's possibly better for easier content like reclears and fast kills.
Best Frost Death Knight Combat Potions
There are a couple different potions that have different useful scenarios for Frost Death Knights.
Raiding & Mythic+: Elemental Potion of Ultimate Power
Frost Death Knight Weapon Buff
For their weapons (in addition to Runeforges), Frost Death Knights will generally use Buzzing Rune.
Best Frost Death Knight Gems in Dragonflight
For your gems, you want to equip one epic gem: Inscribed Illimited Diamond and then just fill in the rest of the slots with Sensei's Alexstraszite!
Pros and Cons
Frost Death Knight Rotation Priority
Breath of Sindragosa Rotation Priority
The rotation for Breath of Sindragosa is entirely focused on extending the duration of the ability. This entails producing as much Runic Power as effectively as feasible. Obliterate will be the main tool we use to do this. Our 1-Rune spells like Remorseless Winter, Death and Decay, and Howling Blast (with procs of Rime) with Rage of the Frozen Champion however, are other sources of runic power. We don't want to just repeatedly use Obliterate but we also want to make sure that we always generate 3 Runes. Wait for your Breath of Sindragosa to tick your Runic Power down before using your Obliterate if you are on the verge of reaching your Runic Power cap and you don't have enough runes at your disposal.
2x Obliterate, spending any procs of Rime that you get.
Pillar of Frost + Breath of Sindragosa + Raise Dead + Potion
Proceed with Breath of Sindragosa priority.
Obliterate if you have less than 30 Runic Power.
Obliterate if you have a proc of Killing Machine.
Howling Blast if you have a proc of Rime.
Obliterate if you have 4 or more Runes.
Obliterate if you won't overcap on Runic Power.
