Subtlety Rogue Overview

Subtlety Rogue is a damage specialization that specializes on quick bursts of heavy damage when dual-wielding and wearing leather. It is the rogue spec that is most able to use  Shadow Dance because it is the specializations signature skill. Although the damage you deal during your cooldowns—primarily with  Shadow Dance but also  Flagellation—can be quite strong, the damage you deal outside of them will be modest.

Subtlety Rogue Stats

Agility is our primary stat. It directly increases attack power, which is the base scaling factor of all of our damaging abilities.

In addition to that, we have the following secondary stats that, directly or indirectly, increase damage:

  • Agility > Critical Strike > Mastery = Versatility > Haste
  • Critical Strike: Chance to deal double damage with your attacks.
  • Haste: Increases attack speed, energy regeneration and  Rupture tick rate.
  • Mastery: Increases the damage of your finishers.
  • Versatility: Increases all damage done and reduces damage taken.

Overall the best phial for Subtlety Rogues is  Phial of Static Empowerment if you can stand still.
If you can't it is better to use  Phial of Tepid Versatility (recommended) or  Iced Phial of Corrupting Rage.

  1. Ensure you are in  Stealth.
  6. Use  Rupture.
  11. Use  Cold Blood
  13. continue according to rotation.

Subtlety Rogue Single Target Rotation and Priority

  1. Enter  Stealth if out of combat.
  2. Use  Symbols of Death on cooldown as much as possible.
  3. Use  Shadow Blades on cooldown.
  4. Use  Cold Blood before a finishing move, ideally before  Secret Technique.
  5. Use  Shadow Dance on cooldown as much as possible.
  6. Use  Thistle Tea when low on energy.
  7. Use Combo Point builder with the following priority:
  8. Use  Gloomblade outside of  Shadow Dance.
  10. Use Finishing moves with 6 or more combo points (5 or more during  Shadow Dance) with the following priority:
  11. Cast  Slice and Dice if it needs to be refreshed for maintenance or if it is not up.
  12. Cast  Rupture if it needs to be refreshed for maintenance or if it is not up.

Subtlety Rogue Multi Target Rotation and Priority

  1. Enter  Stealth if out of combat.
  2. Use  Symbols of Death on cooldown as much as possible.
  3. Use  Shadow Blades on cooldown.
  4. Use  Cold Blood before a finishing move, ideally before  Secret Technique.
  6. Use  Shadow Dance on cooldown as much as possible.
  8. Use Combo Point builder with the following priority:
  9. Use  Shuriken Storm on 2 targets outside of  Shadow Dance.
  10. Use  Shadowstrike on 2 targets during  Shadow Dance or to proc  Premeditation.
  12. Use Finishing moves with 5 or more combo points with the following priority:
  13. Cast  Slice and Dice if it needs to be refreshed for maintenance or if it is not up.
  14. Cast  Rupture if it needs to be refreshed for maintenance or if it is not up.
  15. Cast  Rupture on all targets.
  16. Cast  Black Powder with 3 or more targets.
