The War Within Beta: Priest Talents
Priest
-
Many talents have moved locations or have had their pathing updated.
-
Void Tendrils now root targets for 15 seconds (was 20 seconds).
Discipline Priest
Developer’s Note: Our aim is to make Rapture a more gratifying cooldown that integrates seamlessly into the rotation. To achieve this, we are removing the time pressure element of the cooldown and enhancing the impact of each Power Word: Shield. This change will allow players to manage damage more strategically and thoughtfully.
-
Rapture increases the absorption of your next 3 Power Word: Shields by 80% (was increases by 40% and lasts 8 seconds).
Developer’s Note: In The War Within, we are adjusting raid healing cooldowns to enhance their effectiveness in smaller groups, including dungeons, PvP, and raids with fewer than 20 players. Our goal is to ensure these spells remain powerful across all content types. The healing output for up to 20 injured allies will remain the same as before, but only injured allies will contribute to the splash cap. This change will slightly reduce effectiveness when healing groups larger than 20 players. However, we believe this tradeoff is reasonable, as the overall availability and strength of these cooldowns increase with larger group sizes.
-
Luminous Barrier absorb amount increased by 400%.
-
Luminous Barrier now decreases its absorb amount beyond 5 targets.
Holy Priest
Developer’s Note: In The War Within, we are adjusting raid healing cooldowns to enhance their effectiveness in content involving fewer than 20 players. Our objective is to ensure these spells feel powerful across all forms of gameplay, especially in smaller dungeon, PvP, and raid groups. The healing output for up to 20 injured allies will remain consistent with previous levels, and only injured allies will contribute to the splash cap. While this change will slightly reduce effectiveness when healing groups larger than 20 players, we believe this tradeoff is reasonable, given the increased availability and strength of these cooldowns as group sizes grow.
-
Divine Hymn healing increased by 400%.
-
Divine Hymn now decreases its healing beyond 5 targets.
Shadow Priest
-
Shadow Crash now is a choice node with a new talent: Void Crash – Hurl a bolt of slow-moving Void energy at your target, dealing Shadow damage to all enemies within 8 yards.
-
Shadow Crash’s tooltip has been updated to specify that it is aimed at a location, to make it more clear the differences between each choice.
Enhance your character's power with the Nerub'ar Palace full gear boost from Simple Carry. Secure top-tier items for every gear slot from the opening raid of The War Within expansion. Gearing up is particularly crucial for classes like Shadow Priest to maximize their potential. Don't miss out on this opportunity to fully equip your character for the challenges ahead.
That concludes our overview of the talent changes for Priests in The War Within beta. Please note that these updates are subject to change based on player feedback before the expansion's official launch later this year.
This beta introduces many intriguing design choices, especially with the addition of new talents that allow players to enhance their damage, healing, survivability, or utility. The War Within is shaping up to be a promising expansion, with a wealth of new features, content, and overall quality-of-life improvements.
