Unleashing Nature's Power: A Comprehensive Overview of the Balance Druid Specialization

Balance Druid: A Versatile Specialization Welcome to our comprehensive Balance Druid overview, where we delve into the intricacies of this versatile specialization in World of Warcraft. As a Balance Druid, you will experience an engaging and challenging rotation that excels in multiple target encounters and holds its own in single-target fights.

One of the standout features of the Balance Druid is its prowess in multiple target engagements. With the ability to efficiently apply damage-over-time effects to numerous foes and unleash devastating attacks on each target, Balance Druids truly shine in encounters where multiple adversaries need to be dispatched. However, it is important to note that while Balance Druids excel in multi-target situations, their damage output requires some setup and ramp-up time, making them less optimal for burst damage scenarios where quick target elimination is crucial.

On the other hand, when it comes to single-target encounters, Balance Druids perform adequately. The rotation for single-target engagements is more straightforward compared to multi-target encounters, as it requires less preparation time and a lesser understanding of the encounter mechanics. To maximize your damage output, you'll focus on casting generator abilities to accumulate Astral Power, which you can then strategically utilize on different spells depending on the nature of the encounter you're facing.

Another significant aspect of the Balance Druid rotation is the management of Eclipse, your primary buff. Cycling through Eclipse is a key objective, as it influences several talents that trigger upon entering or leaving an Eclipse state. This dynamic mechanic incentivizes you to maintain a constant state of Eclipse, ensuring that you can take full advantage of the associated talents and their effects.

In addition to the rotation intricacies, the Balance Druid brings a range of utility to group content. Your ability to provide off-healing through spells like Rejuvenation and Swiftmend can be invaluable in supporting your team's survival. Furthermore, your crowd control capabilities, such as Entangling Roots and Typhoon, offer crowd management options that can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

As you progress in your journey as a Balance Druid, gear optimization and talent choices will play a significant role in enhancing your effectiveness. Our comprehensive guide will delve into these aspects, providing you with valuable insights on stat priorities, enchantments, and gemming strategies to empower your character.

Harnessing Nature's Strengths: A Detailed Exploration of Balance Druid's Advantages and Limitations

Strengths:

  1. Versatility in Hybrid and Multi-Target Encounters: The Balance Druid specialization truly shines in hybrid encounters that require a balance between dealing damage and providing support. With the ability to seamlessly transition between dealing priority damage and engaging multiple targets, Balance Druids offer a valuable contribution to their group without sacrificing their primary role.

  2. Accessibility with Depth: While the Balance Druid is considered relatively easy to pick up and play, it possesses a deep mastery curve. Novice players can grasp the fundamental mechanics quickly, but experienced players can delve into advanced strategies and nuances to optimize their performance. This balance of accessibility and complexity makes the specialization appealing to a wide range of players.

  3. Versatile Utility Toolkit: Balance Druids possess a diverse toolkit of utility spells that go beyond dealing damage. With healing abilities such as Rejuvenation and Swiftmend, along with an array of single and multi-target crowd control spells, they become valuable assets in supporting their team's survival and controlling the battlefield.

  4. Potent Spread Damage: When faced with encounters involving groups of enemies, Balance Druids truly shine. Their proficiency in spreading damage-over-time effects across multiple targets, combined with powerful area spells like Starfall, allows them to efficiently and effectively dismantle packs of foes.

Weaknesses:

  1. Ramp Time in Multiple Target Encounters: While Balance Druids excel in multi-target situations, they may require some time to ramp up their damage output. This ramp time involves setting up their damage-over-time effects and reaching their optimal rotation, which can slightly delay their full potential during the initial stages of encounters with numerous foes.

  2. Mobility Challenges: Balance Druids may face difficulties in maintaining their damage output while on the move. Their reliance on stationary spellcasting can hinder their performance during encounters that require constant mobility, forcing them to make strategic decisions to minimize downtime and maximize their contributions.

  3. Learning Curve for Specific Encounter Types: For newer players, certain encounter types may pose a challenge when playing as a Balance Druid. Understanding intricate mechanics, timing cooldowns, and adapting to specific encounter requirements may require a bit more experience and familiarity with the specialization's toolkit.

  4. Lower Single-Target Damage: In terms of pure single-target damage output, Balance Druids may lag behind some other specializations. While they still maintain respectable damage, particularly when fully optimized, their true strength lies in their multi-target capabilities, where they can truly unleash their potential.

By understanding the strengths and weaknesses of the Balance Druid specialization, you can effectively leverage its advantages while mitigating its limitations. With practice, experience, and a keen understanding of encounter dynamics, you'll be able to harness the full potential of nature's power and become an invaluable asset to your group.

Mastering the Balance Druid Rotation: Unleashing Astral Power and Eclipse Cycles

To excel as a Balance Druid, it's crucial to grasp the fundamentals of the specialization's rotation. Whether you're engaging a single target or multiple adversaries, maintaining a high uptime on damage-over-time effects (DoTs) and effectively managing Astral Power are key to optimizing your performance.

Single Target Rotation: When facing a single target, prioritize the following actions:

  1. DoT Uptime: Ensure that your DoTs, such as Moonfire and Sunfire, are consistently applied and maintained on the target. These spells contribute significant damage over time and should be refreshed before they expire.

  2. Astral Power Management: Balance Druids generate Astral Power through their generator abilities, such as Solar Wrath and Lunar Strike. Once you have accumulated enough Astral Power, unleash it using Starsurge. Starsurge is your primary spender ability and inflicts substantial direct damage to the target.

  3. Cooldown Utilization: Employ your cooldown abilities, such as Celestial Alignment and Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, as they become available. These abilities enhance your damage output and should be utilized promptly unless strategic timing presents an opportunity to stack multiple cooldowns together for maximum impact.

Multi-Target Rotation: When dealing with multiple targets, adapt your rotation as follows:

  1. DoT Spreading: Spread your DoTs across all viable targets. Prioritize applying and maintaining Moonfire and Sunfire on each enemy. This maximizes your damage potential, especially when combined with talents like Twin Moons, which allows your Moonfire to hit an additional target.

  2. Astral Power Expenditure: Rather than using Starsurge as your primary spender, focus on utilizing Starfall. Starfall becomes your primary Astral Power spender in multi-target situations, dealing area damage to all enemies within range. Be mindful of your Astral Power levels and ensure efficient usage of Starfall to maximize your impact on the group of targets.

  3. Coordinated Cooldowns: Coordinate the use of your cooldown abilities with the encounter dynamics. During periods of high enemy density or critical moments in the fight, consider activating Celestial Alignment to benefit from both Solar and Lunar Eclipse. This grants you increased damage potential across all targets.

Remember, adapting your rotation to suit the number of targets and effectively managing your cooldowns and Astral Power will significantly enhance your effectiveness as a Balance Druid.

By mastering the art of balance, understanding the intricacies of Eclipse cycles, and employing the appropriate abilities for single-target and multi-target encounters, you will harness the full might of the celestial forces and emerge as a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. Unleash your Starsurges and bask in the radiance of your lunar and solar spells as you strive for balance and mastery as a Balance Druid.

Best Talents for Balance Druid:

Basic Rotation for Balance Druids

The general Balance Druid rotation is based on a priority list. This is the priority for a single target. Lunar is the preferred Eclipse Icon Eclipse state. Aim to be inside an Eclipse state at all times during your rotation.

Single Target Basic Rotation for Balance Druids

  1. Cast and keep up Moonfire Icon Moonfire, Sunfire Icon Sunfire, and Stellar Flare Icon Stellar Flare(if talented)
  2. Enter Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment (or Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune)
  3. If you do not have cooldowns, cast 2 Starfire Icon Starfires to enter Solar Eclipse
  4. Cast Starsurge Icon Starsurge to not cap on Astral Power
  5. Cast Wrath Icon Wrath as your primary filler.

There are a variety of smaller cooldowns that Balance Druid has access to depending on what you talent into. Most of these talents that become spells generate Astral Power. There are a few main rules when using the majority of these cooldowns:

  • When using a cooldown, do not allow your Astral Power to cap.
  • Try to stack your cooldowns together to improve their effectiveness.
  • Do not lose a usage of your cooldowns unless there is a good reason to not use them.

Multi Target Basic Rotation for Balance Druids

  1. Cast and keep up Moonfire Icon Moonfire and Sunfire Icon Sunfire on targets that will live more than 6-seconds
  2. Enter Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment (or Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune)
  3. If you do not have cooldowns, cast 2 Wrath Icon Wraths to enter Lunar Eclipse
  4. Cast Starfall Icon Starfall to not cap on Astral Power
  5. Inside Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment (or Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, cast Starfire Icon Starfire if there are additional targets within 8-yards of your main target. Cast Wrath Icon Wrath if the targets are spread out.
  6. When only in Lunar Eclipse, cast Starfire Icon Starfire
  7. When there are less than 1.5-seconds left (or the cast time of your Wrath Icon Wrath) in your Eclipse, cast Wrath Icon Wrath

There are a few factors when facing multiple targets that can influence how you play.

If the targets are spread, apply Moonfire Icon Moonfire while you wait for them to group into Sunfire Icon Sunfire range. The same goes for cooldowns; the more targets you can deal damage to, the better your cooldown will be. You should remember not to lose a use.

If the targets are not going to live a long time, burst becomes more effective than damage over time. Do not apply Moonfire Icon Moonfire to multiple targets if they will die quickly. It is better to use your Astral Power.

Unveiling the Ideal Stat Priorities for Balance Druids

As a Balance Druid, understanding the optimal stat priority is crucial for maximizing your performance in both single-target and multi-target encounters. While intellect remains the primary stat for all casters, including Balance Druids, let's delve into the stat hierarchy specific to your specialization.

  1. Mastery: Mastery (Mastery: Starlight) reigns supreme as the most valuable secondary stat for Balance Druids. It enhances the damage output of your main damaging spells, Wrath and Starfire, during their respective Eclipse states. A higher Mastery rating increases the potency of these spells, making it a top priority for stat allocation.

  2. Haste: Haste closely follows Mastery in importance for Balance Druids. Haste reduces the global cooldown and cast times, allowing for a faster rotation and more frequent spellcasting. It also directly affects the tick rate of your damage-over-time effects, increasing their overall damage output. While slightly behind Mastery in priority, Haste remains a significant stat to prioritize for optimal performance.

  3. Critical Strike: Critical Strike increases your chance to critically strike, resulting in amplified damage. While it falls slightly lower in priority compared to Mastery and Haste, it still holds value in increasing burst potential and overall damage output. However, it should be noted that Critical Strike does not synergize as strongly with Balance Druids as Mastery and Haste do.

  4. Versatility: Versatility enhances both your damage dealt and damage mitigation, providing a well-rounded benefit. While it holds importance, it ranks lower in priority compared to Mastery, Haste, and Critical Strike for Balance Druids. Its impact on overall damage is slightly less significant, making it a secondary consideration when optimizing your gear and stat allocation.

It's crucial to note that these stat priorities are general guidelines, and individual gear pieces may have unique combinations of stats. To make precise determinations on the value of specific gear upgrades, it's recommended to utilize simulators or consult reliable theorycrafting resources to accurately evaluate the potential impact on your performance.

By prioritizing Mastery and Haste and considering Critical Strike and Versatility as secondary stats, you will pave the path towards achieving optimal damage output and unleashing the full potential of your celestial powers as a Balance Druid.

Navigating the Dynamic Nature of Stat Priority for Balance Druids

Stat priority for Balance Druids is not set in stone and can vary based on gear, gems, and enchants. It's important to understand that as you equip different pieces of gear or make adjustments to your setup, the priority of stats can shift, affecting your overall performance.

Neglecting a particular stat can cause its priority to increase over time, eventually surpassing other stats in significance. Conversely, if a stat is lower in the general priority, it may not require a substantial amount of additional investment to bring it back in line with other stats.

Simulating your gear setup is a valuable tool to gauge the impact of different stats on your performance. By using tools like the "Top Gear" feature on Raidbots, you can obtain a more accurate depiction of how potential upgrades will align with your current gear. Simulations consider the specific combinations of stats and gear you possess, providing a clearer understanding of their impact on your overall performance.

It's worth noting that simulations can reveal unexpected results. For example, a stat that appears lower in the general priority might actually provide a significant increase in your DPS when combined with certain gear pieces or talents. Therefore, relying on simulations and consulting reputable theorycrafting resources can help guide your decision-making process and ensure that you make informed choices when optimizing your character.

Ultimately, balancing your stats requires a flexible and adaptive approach. As you acquire new gear, consider its impact on your stat priorities and evaluate whether the change aligns with your desired playstyle and performance goals. Regularly reassessing your stat priorities and staying informed about the latest theorycrafting developments will empower you to optimize your Balance Druid to its fullest potential.

Mastering DoT Uptime: Enhancing Damage Output as a Balance Druid

The proper management of damage-over-time effects (DoTs) is a crucial aspect of maximizing your damage output as a Balance Druid. DoTs not only generate Astral Power and contribute to your overall damage but also play a pivotal role in buffing your damage through various talents and abilities. Monitoring and optimizing your DoT uptime is vital to ensuring your performance reaches its full potential.

Why DoT Uptime Matters: Maintaining high DoT uptime provides several benefits:

  1. Damage Generation: DoTs generate Astral Power when they deal damage over time. This additional resource enables you to unleash powerful spells and enhance your damage potential.

  2. Amplifying Damage: DoTs play a significant role in amplifying your overall damage by benefiting from various talents, artifact traits, and abilities. A higher DoT uptime maximizes the effectiveness of these amplification effects.

  3. Talent Synergy: Certain talents, such as Circle of Life and Death, reduce the duration of your DoTs. In such cases, it becomes even more critical to ensure optimal uptime to compensate for the reduced duration and maintain consistent damage output.

Tips for Improving DoT Uptime:

  1. Prioritize DoT Application: Ensure that you apply your DoTs, Moonfire and Sunfire, to all appropriate targets in a timely manner. This includes refreshing them before they expire to maintain continuous damage.

  2. Track DoT Timers: Utilize addons or weakauras to monitor the remaining duration of your DoTs on your target(s). This visual aid will help you stay aware of when to refresh them promptly.

  3. Optimize Movement and Positioning: Plan your movement and positioning to minimize the disruption of your DoT uptime. This includes anticipating boss mechanics, positioning yourself efficiently, and making strategic movement decisions to maintain optimal DPS uptime.

  4. Communication and Coordination: In group content, communicate with your team to ensure efficient DoT application across multiple targets. Coordinate with your fellow players to distribute DoT responsibilities and avoid overlapping or missing targets.

  5. Practice and Review: Regularly analyze your combat logs and evaluate your DoT uptime. Identify any patterns of downtime or lapses and work on rectifying them through practice and increased awareness.

Remember, maintaining high DoT uptime is a fundamental aspect of optimizing your damage output as a Balance Druid. By paying close attention to DoT application, monitoring timers, and practicing efficient movement and positioning, you will unleash the full potential of your celestial powers and emerge as a formidable force on the battlefield.

Mastering Movement and Cast Optimization: Seamlessly Navigating Encounters as a Balance Druid

In the dynamic world of dungeon and raid encounters, being able to effectively handle mechanics while maintaining your rotation is vital for a Balance Druid. Balancing movement and cast optimization ensures that you contribute consistent damage output even during moments of high mobility. By utilizing your abilities wisely and staying proactive, you can navigate encounters seamlessly and maximize your overall performance.

  1. Assess Encounter Mechanics: Familiarize yourself with encounter mechanics by studying encounter guides, watching videos, and actively observing boss abilities. This knowledge will allow you to anticipate movement requirements and plan your rotation accordingly.

  2. Utilize Instant Casts: As a Balance Druid, you possess several instant cast abilities at your disposal, such as Starsurge, Moonfire, and Sunfire. Utilize these instant cast spells to maintain your rotation while on the move. Prioritize casting them when you need to reposition or avoid mechanics without interrupting your DPS.

  3. Mobility Spells: Make use of your mobility spells, such as Wild Charge and Dash, to swiftly navigate short to medium distances during encounters. These abilities can help you quickly get into position or avoid hazardous areas while minimizing your downtime.

  4. Pool Resources for Movement: Anticipate mechanics and pool your resources, such as Astral Power, before movement is required. This allows you to have enough resources available to continue casting instant spells while on the move, ensuring your damage output remains uninterrupted.

  5. Addons for Encounter Awareness: Utilize dungeon and raid addons that provide visual cues or alerts for important mechanics. These addons can help you anticipate and react to mechanics in real time, allowing you to plan your movement and rotation accordingly.

  6. Practice and Adaptation: Regularly practice encounters to become familiar with mechanics and the timing of movement requirements. Adapt your rotation and movement strategies based on the unique demands of each encounter, refining your techniques over time.

Remember, balance is key when it comes to movement and cast optimization. Strive to maintain your rotation as seamlessly as possible while staying responsive to encounter mechanics. By mastering the art of movement prediction, utilizing instant casts effectively, and leveraging mobility spells, you'll be able to navigate encounters with grace and contribute consistent damage output as a skilled Balance Druid.

Maximizing Cooldown Usage: Unleashing the Power of Balance Druid Abilities

Properly utilizing your cooldowns as a Balance Druid is paramount to achieving exceptional damage output. In various encounters, understanding the optimal timing and strategic usage of your abilities can make a significant difference in your overall performance. While researching encounter mechanics and gaining firsthand experience are key to determining the best approach, certain principles can guide your cooldown management.

  1. Fight Length Considerations: When determining cooldown usage, it's crucial to consider the duration of the encounter. Whether it's a Mythic+ dungeon, raid, or PvP encounter, you generally want to maximize your damage potential during your cooldowns. Holding onto your cooldowns without a compelling reason can result in missed opportunities for significant damage output.

  2. Strategic Holding of Cooldowns: There are situations where it may be advantageous to hold your cooldowns for specific reasons, such as:

    • Priority Targets or Multi-Target Focus: Holding cooldowns or Astral Power for priority targets or specific moments in multi-target encounters can ensure maximum impact. This approach allows you to focus your burst damage on key threats or opportune moments to cleave multiple enemies simultaneously.

    • Damage Amplification Phases: Some encounters feature phases where damage amplification buffs or debuffs are present. Timing your cooldown usage to align with these phases can significantly increase your damage output.

    • Combining Multiple Cooldowns: Coordinating the use of multiple cooldowns without sacrificing their effectiveness can unleash devastating bursts of damage. This requires careful planning and synchronization with other members of your group.

    • Avoiding Mechanics: In situations where mechanics can interrupt or hinder your damage output, waiting a short time to ensure a safe window can be advantageous. This prevents your cooldowns from being wasted due to unavoidable interruptions.

  3. Immediate Usage for Unknown Encounters: When facing a new encounter or joining a group for the first time, it's generally recommended to use your cooldowns immediately until you become familiar with the fight mechanics. This approach ensures that you contribute significant damage from the outset, allowing you to adapt and refine your cooldown management as you gain a deeper understanding of the encounter.

Remember, mastering cooldown usage as a Balance Druid requires a combination of research, experience, and adaptability. By understanding encounter dynamics, strategically holding cooldowns, and adjusting your approach based on fight length and encounter specifics, you'll harness the true potential of your celestial abilities and become a formidable force on the battlefield.

Optimizing Astral Power Usage: Preventing Cap and Maximizing Efficiency as a Balance Druid

Efficiently managing your Astral Power as a Balance Druid is essential for maintaining a smooth rotation and maximizing your damage potential. Capping Astral Power—reaching the maximum limit without utilizing it—can result in lost opportunities for damage output. By implementing strategies to prevent Astral Power cap and ensuring optimal usage, you can enhance your performance significantly.

  1. Utilize Astral Power Trackers: To effectively manage your Astral Power, consider utilizing addons or weakauras that provide real-time tracking. These tools visually represent your current Astral Power level, allowing you to monitor it closely and make informed decisions about its usage.

  2. Understand the Ebb and Flow of the Rotation: Balance Druid rotations often involve pooling Astral Power before leaving an Eclipse state and spending it at the start of the following Eclipse. It's crucial to recognize the optimal thresholds for pooling—typically around 60-70 Astral Power—before transitioning between Eclipses. This prevents overcapping and ensures a consistent flow of Astral Power utilization.

  3. Be Mindful of Procs and Pre-Eclipse Casts: Procs, such as Full Moon from Orbit Breaker, can potentially generate additional Astral Power. However, it's important to strike a balance between capitalizing on these procs and avoiding Astral Power overcap. If you find yourself frequently capping Astral Power due to procs, consider adjusting your rotation or pooling slightly less before transitioning between Eclipses.

  4. Coordinate Astral Power with Cooldowns: Pay close attention to your Astral Power level and the cooldowns of your abilities. While you want to avoid wasting cooldown time, you should also ensure that you don't cap Astral Power. For example, if Astral Communion is coming off cooldown, plan to use your Astral Power shortly before its availability to make efficient use of the resource.

  5. Practice and Awareness: Regularly practice your rotation and remain vigilant about your Astral Power level. Through repetition and increased awareness, you'll develop a better sense of when to pool and when to spend your Astral Power, maximizing its efficiency and avoiding unnecessary capping.

By actively monitoring your Astral Power, understanding the rotation's ebb and flow, and employing strategies to prevent overcapping, you'll optimize your Balance Druid gameplay. With precise Astral Power management, you'll harness the full potential of celestial forces and unleash devastating damage upon your foes.

Balance Druid Rotation Introduction

Balance Druid gameplay is a standard build and spend class with a predictable cadence to their rotation.

At the start of combat or with each use or proc of Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment / Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, you choose between either Solar or Lunar Eclipse Icon Eclipse. To enter Solar Eclipse, you must cast two Starfire Icon Starfires, and to enter Lunar Eclipse, you need to cast two Wrath Icon Wrath.

From there on, you build Astral Power using the appropriate filler. In Solar Eclipse Icon Eclipse, you cast Wrath Icon Wrath to gain Astral Power and, in Lunar Eclipse, you cast Starfire Icon Starfire. Each Eclipse lasts 15 seconds. Eclipse uptime is incredibly important, and you should aim to be inside Eclipse as often as you can.

On single-target, you will use Starsurge Icon Starsurge, which costs 40 Astral Power. On multi-target, you want to be casting Starfall Icon Starfall, which costs 50 Astral Power. Some spells reduce the cost of these abilities, such as Rattle the Stars Icon Rattle the Stars and Elune's Guidance Icon Elune's Guidance.

Keep your DoTs up on all targets to activate your Mastery bonus. Use cooldowns optimally, either on cooldown or when there is a better moment.

If you are just getting started, follow this basic priority list:

  1. Apply and maintain Moonfire Icon Moonfire and Sunfire Icon Sunfire
  2. Enter Eclipse or cast Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune
  3. On 1 and 2 targets, use Wrath Icon Wrath to generate Astral Power. If you are in Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, you cast Wrath on 3 targets.
  4. On 3 or more targets, use Starfire Icon Starfire to generate Astral Power. If you are in Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune, you cast Starfire Icon Starfire on 4 targets or more.
  5. On single target, spend Astral Power using Starsurge Icon Starsurge. On multi-target, spend Astral Power using Starfall Icon Starfall.
  6. Use other cooldowns as they are available or when optimal. Do not lose a use.

This is the core of the Balance Druid rotation, even though it is listed as the basic priority list. Once you have down the basics, you will focus on cooldown usage and buff management and learning the best ways to maintain high uptime on the important buffs.

Which Eclipe to Use

Balance Druid enters their Eclipse state based on target count. This means targets that you can hit with your filler spells, Wrath Icon Wrath and Starfire Icon Starfire. Follow the Eclipse rules outlined below:

  • On 2 or less targets, enter Solar Eclipse
  • On 3 or more targets, enter Lunar Eclipse

Remember, if there are 10 targets, but you can only cleave 2 of them, you would enter Solar Eclipse to generate more Astral Power.

Balance Druid Opener and Cooldown Usage

  1. At 2 seconds on the pull timer, start pre-casting two Wrath Icon Wraths.
  2. Apply or maintain your Moonfire Icon Moonfire and Sunfire Icon Sunfire. Reapply these DoTs when they have 30% remaining on their duration.
  3. Use Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment or Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune.
  4. Drink your Potion
  5. Cast Starsurge Icon Starsurge on single target and Starfall Icon Starfall on multiple targets. Do not cap Astral Power.
  6. Cast Wrath Icon Wrath on 3 or less targets.
  7. Cast Starfire Icon Starfire on 4 or more targets.

Cooldown Usage for Balance Druids

Balance Druid has quite a few cooldown options in Dragonflight. The main cooldown that we refer to in this guide is Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment, which can be upgraded by another talent called Incarnation: Chosen of Elune Icon Incarnation: Chosen of Elune. You often want to use these immediately every time they come off cooldown as you want to get as many usages as possible.

Cooldowns should be stacked together. If you can use Celestial Alignment Icon Celestial Alignment and other cooldowns, such as Convoke the Spirits Icon Convoke the Spirits or Fury of Elune Icon Fury of Elune at the same time, it will make those other cooldowns stronger as well. These buttons are supposed to do the most damage per press compared to the spells you can always cast.

Some cooldowns come in the form of charge-based spells, such as Wild Mushroom Icon Wild Mushroom and New Moon Icon New Moon. You should not let these cap their charges, as that is the same as another spell being off cooldown and not being used. Keep their charges rolling even if it is not the most efficient use of your time.

When you are gemming your Elemental Lariat Icon Elemental Lariat, keep in mind that the proc of this item is based on gem type. Keen Neltharite Icon Keen Neltharite will proc Haste and Keen Ysemerald Icon Keen Ysemerald will proc Mastery.

Best Items to Upgrade for Balance Druid in Dragonflight Season 2

Each upgrade path is dependent upon what you have already looted and at which levels you looted each item at. Below are a few items you can look to upgrade to fill in some of your weaker slots.

Trinkets

The absolute best trinket in all situations will be Neltharion's Call to Suffering Icon Neltharion's Call to Suffering. This grants a large boost of Intellect while also dealing a small amount of damage to you over 12-seconds.

You can also look for some of these trinkets as viable alternatives:

  1. Ominous Chromatic Essence Icon Ominous Chromatic Essence from The Forgotten Experiments
  2. Screaming Black Dragonscale Icon Screaming Black Dragonscale from Kazzara

From Mythic+, you can get Spoils of Neltharus Icon Spoils of Neltharus from Neltharus which is the best trinket after the available raid trinkets or Irideus Fragment Icon Irideus Fragment which could find some use in the raid as a burst trinket but a DPS loss to its primary contenders.

Weapons

The best weapon for Balance Druids will be Bloodfire Extraction Conduit Icon Bloodfire Extraction Conduit and Echo's Maddening Volume Icon Echo's Maddening Volume. You may want to have a one-handed dagger crafted early on if you are not able to get one of the higher item level weapons early on.

If you are farming dungeons, Brackenhide Hollow drops the Ancestral Stoneshaper Icon Ancestral Stoneshaper. Getting one from the Great Vault would be preferable but not something in our control.

Jewelry

Magmorax's Fourth Collar Icon Magmorax's Fourth Collar is a strong neck piece with a heavy Mastery weighting from one of the mid-tier bosses in the raid. If you can farm or loot a high item level Bromach's Disentombed Locket Icon Bromach's Disentombed Locket from Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr.

You can also have Signet of Titanic Insight Icon Signet of Titanic Insight crafted by a Jewelcrafter with Haste and Mastery. This comes with a socket as well, which adds value to an already great item. Torc of Passed Time Icon Torc of Passed Time is the profession Jewelcrafting neck option.

Entropic Convergence Loop Icon Entropic Convergence Loop is a good ring from the raid and while it drops early, item level on rings are less valuable than on pieces of gear with Intellect so it balances out. You can also farm Neltharion's Lair for Loop of Pulsing Veins Icon Loop of Pulsing Veins.

Primordial Stones

In Patch 10.0.7 , you can find a new item called Onyx Annulet Icon Onyx Annulet from the new activity, Zserka Vault. This will have 3 empty Primordial Stone slots. Primordial Stones can be obtained from completing tasks in the Forbidden Reach. The Onyx Annulet has no secondary stats and scales with the level of your Primordial Stones but only gets increased Stamina.

The Primordial Stones mainly grant on hit effects, healing, shielding, tertiary buffs, or buff other stones.

This item is quickly outscaled by well-stated item level 421 rings. These can still be useful when gearing up for current content.

If you are catching up, you can use the following Primordial Stones for single target.
