Guide: Dragonflight Inscription Leveling

This Dragonflight Inscription leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how to level your Dragon Isles Inscription skill up from 1 to 100.

Shopping List

This is the list of materials needed to level Inscription to 52. The 52-100 part is not included because there are many alternative recipes you can use.

You can buy Virtuoso Inking Set, Glittering Parchment, Iridescent Water, and Draconic Vial from from Gohfyrr in Valdrakken.

Levels 1-15

Use Dragon Isles Milling on these herbs:

Make sure that you don't mill all your Writhebark. Keep at least 35!

Levels 15-20

Craft these inks:

They all make 2x Inks, so you will end up with double the numbers above. You will need 12x Blazing, 18x Flourishing, and 32x Serene.

You will also need 17x Chilled Rune. They won't give you any skill points at this point.

17x Chilled Rune - 85x Rousing Frost, 17x Serene Ink

Levels 20-32

You will need Runed Writhebark and Burnished Ink later, so you should craft them now while they give skill points.

  • 7x Runed Writhebark - 35x Rousing Air, 35x Writhebark, 7x Flourishing Ink, 7x Chilled Rune
  • 4x Burnished Ink - 8x Blazing Ink, 8x Flourishing Ink, 8x Serene Ink

First Craft Bonus

You will get 1x Dragon Isles Inscription Knowledge talent point each time you craft something for the first time. Dragon Isles Inscription Knowledge is very valuable and has a weekly cap from other sources. So, instead of leveling Inscription and then going back to craft grey recipes, this leveling guide is designed in a way to get the "First Craft Bonus" from most recipes while they give you skill points.

Inscription Specializations

When you hit 25, you will unlock Specializations. I would suggest having a little bit of a look through the specializations. Spend some time reading through them, then choose which direction you might want to go.

But don't be too hasty with spending points just at this time unless you have a clear goal of which direction you wanna go. The Knowledge points are going to be the limited commodity that you will never be able to get enough of, and you will always want more of. You can continue leveling your profession and return to choosing a specialization and spending knowledge points a bit later.

You will need 50 skill points to unlock the second specialization and 75 for the third. 50 is very easy to reach, but it may take you a little while to level all the way to 75. So, be aware that you will have to choose which one you feel you can do without for the longest.

Levels 32-39

Craft these to get your First Craft bonuses. Make sure to craft the profession equipment first and then the Runes.

Equip the Scribe's Fastened Quill.

You should be at 39 or 40. Make a few more from any of the runes if you didn't reach 39.

Levels 39-45

3x Cosmic Ink - 3x Awakened Frost, 3x Serene Ink, 6x Burnished Ink, 3x Runed Writhebark

Levels 45-52

Make one from each missive:

Learn the Vantus rune recipe from the trainer, then make one:

1x Technique: Vantus Rune: Vault of the Incarnates - 2x Burnished Ink, 1x Chilled Rune

Levels 52-65

Make around 20 from any of the Missives in the 45-52 step.

Levels 65-100

You have to do the 65 - 100 part with Crafting Orders because every single recipe that can give you skill points requires some soulbound material. It would be almost impossible to farm the needed materials for a single person. Also, every high-level rare and epic recipe will be BoP, so you can't even sell them at the Auction House. You are basically forced to use the Crafting Order system.

If you are interested in becoming a top player in PvP, then you might want to consider getting a boost from a service like Simple Carry. A WoW PvP boost can help you achieve the highest results in Arena, even if you are short on time to play with your team. Simple Carry can upgrade your rating to 2000, 2400, or higher, and help you become a "Gladiator" at the end of a season.

This list below is the full list of recipes that you can use for leveling to 100. I recommend using the "Show Unlearned" filter in the Crafting Order UI to see which recipes have the highest demand.

It's clear to me that Blizzard wanted players to use the Crafting Order system to level up their profession from around 50 or 75. But the reality is that so few people use the system that it's almost impossible to level your profession right now. Crafting Orders are not cross-realm, so if you play on a low-population realm, the situation is even worse. In one Week, I couldn't complete a single crafting order for any of the epic pieces.

I think more people will post crafting orders once the raids and Mythic plus dungeons open up because many people are just saving their materials. So, be patient, and let's hope more people will use this system.
