Protection Paladin Overview
The dragons' roar has been heard. To help the Aspects in their fight to retake and defend the Dragon Isles, the Holy Warriors of the Light must rise up. There are forces at work that aim to undermine the forces of order and pose a threat to our society as a whole. Will you pick up the phone?
You will use the Light as a Paladin to aid your comrades and vanquish your enemies. A solid spec for players that like the feel of a traditional tank with the ability to self-heal significant damage and defend your teammates is the Protection Paladin.

Protection Paladin Stat Priority
Protection Paladins have Strength as their primary stat. The primary benefits are that it gives us Attack Power (AP), Parry chance and increases the armor gained from Shield of the Righteous.
For secondary stats, Protection Paladins has the following:
-
Item Level > Haste > Mastery > Versatility > Critical Strike
-
Haste: This reduces our GCD (Global Cooldown). It also reduces the cooldown on most of our rotational abilities, thus increasing Shield of the Righteous uptime with more Holy Power generation.
-
Mastery: Mastery: Divine Bulwark - Grants damage reduction while standing in Consecration and increases your chance to block. Additionally, while you are in Consecration, you have a chance to block magic periodic magic damage. This stat also increases Attack Power.
-
Versatility: This is the all-around stat. It increases damage done and healing done, as well as reduces all damage taken at half the value. Since active mitigation doesn't provide magic damage reduction, this stat can have situational value since it can reduce magic damage as well as increase the healing we do.
-
Critical Strike: This increases both our damage and parry. It's a stat that's good for DPS and survival while tanking multiple targets, but very mediocre for single-target survival.

Protection Paladin Rotation Priority
or Dragonflight, there are two unique rotating playstyles. One is a typical rotation where you can use Holy Power as necessary. The other is for the talent known as Of Dusk and Dawn. Of Dusk and Dawn is a special playstyle that limits the use of your holy power to certain points, namely when you have three or five holy power left. The main goal is to keep Blessing of Dusk and Blessing of Dawn operating at the highest uptime. We will go over the Of Dusk and Dawn playstyle, as that is what our guide recommends.
